Far Cry 3 - The Lost Expeditions Edition (PS3)

After playing some really poor open world RPG games in the last 12 months, suffering from either poor graphics and sound, to woeful glitch and bug problems, it's great to finally come accross one as wonderful as this.The open world islands are massive and let you explore the gorgeous landscapes, waterfalls and oceans at your complete leisure. The main story line is wonderfully done and is quite long compared to other similar games. What makes this one stand out though, is the complete diversity of the landscapes, the wildlife which range from bengal tigers and crocodiles, gila monsters, great white sharks, jellyfish and manta rays, exotic birds and wild boars to name a few. There's even tiny touches that you don't always notice, creatures scuttleing around that are so small you can overlook them but they are there nonetheless. Tiny beach crabs and gecko's scuttling around and giant tortoises hiding in the long grass, there really has been no detail spared in this game.There are tons of side missions to do and the game never feels old or tired.You can upgrade a plethora of weapons and attributes as the game progresses and the weapons you use have a real feeling of power and force to them. You can aquire a wingsuit and parachute which lets you hurl yourself off of the highest cliffs and hilltops and simply float yourself to new pastures which is really satisfying.There's a range of vehicles to aquire from, cars, to boats and jet ski's, to hangliders and the game is presented with awesomely realistic graphics and sound.The cut scenes are impeccably done and there are very few glitches of note to complain about (a massive plus in my book).The freedom you are given to pick and choose what you do in the game is fantastic, you can hunt down gang members hiding in the hilltops, hunt down rare and fierce animals to build yourself upgrades or make money. Hunt round abandoned Japanese war bunkers to collect rare leeters from long dead soldiers and traverse the island, the ocean an an array of underground caves to collect treasure hidden within.I really can not speak highly enough of Farcry 3, it is an awesome game that you will not want to put down. Just try going for a swim in the ocean and try not to jump when a huge shark comes out of nowhere to take a bite out of you, it gets me everytime.The only disappointment I can think of were the added DLC packs, which I thought were a little too linear and too short but this is a tiny gripe at best.Definately the best game of its kind out there. 10/10

Bought this game and several other PS3 games for my husband for xmas. Unfortunately by the time he got around to playing it he found that the disc was completely corrupted and only contained the first two minutes of the actual game. As Amazon only run a 30 day return on this product my xmas present turned into a pretty shabby and useless gift. You would be well advised to make sure you test all the games you purchase prior to this 30 day return limit or like me you might find yourself with a £40.00 case and not much else. Will think twice about purchasing games from Amazon again.

Far Cry 3 has been called "Skyrim with guns" and "The most insanely fun playground ever" and, at first, it's hard to believe that these quotes are true. I don't necessarily agree with those quotes but once you start playing the game, you can start to understand where they are coming from.-------------------------------------------------------Story-------------------------------------------------------Coming to Rook Island for a holiday with friends and brothers you, Jason Brody, are living the high-life. Partying in clubs, skydiving, parachuting and living wihtout a care in the world you truly think your life cannot get any better. Almost as soon as we are introduced to Jason and his friends, we are dragged back to earth by the insane, funny and charasmatic Vaas.Captured by Vaas and his pirates, you and your friends are taken into captivity, ready to be sold into slavery. Young, terrified and not wanting to die you and your brother plan an escape and try to hunt down and free your friends. Before you can touch freedom, Vaas shoots and kills your brother before your very eyes. Desperately clinging to your brother's body, Vaas gives you thirty seconds to run before he shoots again. Left with no other choice, Jason runs into the jungle and begins his quest for revenge.Welcome to the jungle. Ready to face your insanity?-------------------------------------------------------Graphics-------------------------------------------------------To those who played Far Cry 2, you'll know what the franchise is capable of graphically. Far Cry 3 looks brilliant, even on the consoles. The lush and wild world of Far Cry 3 is littered with colours and contrasts and the game does very well to keep up with them. Bushes are vibrant green, plants and fruits are exotic colours, the sky is a brilliant blue and the night is a haunting dark. In turn, this keeps you immersed in the game and the world feels alive.The more important people of Rook Island are detailed enough to give them some personality but when it comes to the random NPC's and villagers, they are easily forgettable. Lip sync is a bit off in some cutscenes and the faces of the NPC's are generic and almost blunt. That's not me saying they look bad, I'm simply saying that they are a little generic and samey-samey.One thing I'm not too pleased about is the choppiness of the game in some cutscenes. During the first scene with Vaas, you can look around using the analogue stick. I did this and the game was (albeit fractionally) choppy and this made it slightly awkward during the cutscene. It's not as smooth as it could be but it's not terribly important and not really anything worth worrying over.On that same note, the textures of the world when roaming about will sometimes pop-in and out. Not sure if this is PS3 specific or it's happening across all platforms but people, rocks, grass, camps and huts will sometimes gradually appear before your very eyes. Some areas also look awfully bland/sketchy when looking down from atop a high place. If you've played Skyrim, you'll understand what I mean. It's not game-breaking but it does detract from the experience when bushes and people start popping into existence occasionally. Hopefully a patch will iron these out and the game will run more smoothly.-------------------------------------------------------Gameplay-------------------------------------------------------The world of Far Cry 3 is open for you to explore. The first couple of missions are, of course, required but after that you're free to roam and do what you need to. The world is split into several islands and areas on the island so the world is pretty big. Generally, if you can see it you can go to it. Aside from the visual glitches from time-to-time, Rook Island is a beautiful, engrossing place to explore.The addition of hunting and crafting in Far Cry 3 is a great idea and really makes you feel like a hunter. It also makes you feel more involved with the world and as if the world is alive. Animals roam in herds and graze on grass whilst ferocious predators like tigers and sharks lurk in the shadows, waiting to pounce. Killing animals and hunting in general is a good, fun way to pass time but it also serves a purpose since you can craft helpful items using their skins and hides. I won't go into it too much but the crafting system is a good way to make players interact with the world whilst reaping the benefits of doing so. Need more weapons? Find some deer and skin them to make a better weapon holster. Want a bigger wallet? You'll need to hunt some bigger animals for that!Aside from hunting, there are other activities for you to find and take part in. Racing, poker and other side-missions including disabling radio towers, hunting and killing a specific enemy/animal, completing trials of the warrior and finding collectibles are featured in the game and are calling out for you. Whilst there may not be as many as a game like Skyrim, they fit into the world well and are a good, fun way of enjoying the game even more. Activities like gliding, jet-ski's, off-roading all feature if you can find these vehicles so don't be afraid to explore!There are a lot of guns in Far Cry 3, each supporting different playstyles and preferences. Far Cry 2 handled shooting and gun-handling fairly well and it's good to see Far Cry 3 adopting the same mechanics. Shooting isn't as smooth and "easy" like in Call of Duty games but it's realistic in Far Cry. Guns have recoil and the sway is different depending on the weapon. You can apply attachments to weapons such as silencers, scopes, extended mags and red dot sights to customize a weapon and make it feel "yours" but you can also apply paint jobs to give your weapons artistic flair. It's a nice touch, to say the least.Outposts are scattered around the island, each one holding guards and, potentially, caged animals. Liberate these outposts and they become fast travel locations and safe zones where you can rest and gather yourself. Guard patrols in Far Cry 3 can be pretty random and predictable more often than not. Playing steathily with a recurve bow, lining up shots and picking enemies off from the bushes will never get old and the AI responds accordingly. It's not without its faults though. Sometimes guards in vehicles will spot you as they approach but if you simply crouch in ankle-high grass, they apparently lose sight of you. For the most part though, the AI is solid and it's fun to watch guards panick as, one by one, they are picked off from atop a mountain or in a bush only ten feet away from them.On a final note, Far Cry 3 features an XP/levelling up system. You've seen and heard them countless times before in plenty of other games and Far Cry 3 is no different. Killing enemies, completing quests and collecting items nets you experience which you can use to upgrade yourself in three categories. Do you favour stealth and recon? Do you like rushing in with heavy weapons and a handful of grenades? Far Cry 3 caters to many different playstyles and it's handled very well. As you level up and evolve Jason, you get tattoos on your arm which represent the paths you have chosen and the skills you employ. It's a nice touch but you don't see the tattoos much in-game so it's more a game-mechanic that anything else.Far Cry 3 is fun, addicting and involving right from the start. Whilst the story might be a bit strange in some parts, the characters and locations bring the game to life. Aside from the visual glitches I've mentioned the game performs well and the world looks detailed and bursting full of colour. Featuring plenty of activities to sink your teeth into, it's easy to get hooked on this game. If you're a fan of Far Cry 2, open-world games or shooters then you're in for a treat. Ho acquistato per convenienza il gioco usato a 6 euro in edizione inglese sapendo che essendo comunque europei hanno il multilingua,ma purtroppo alcuni non ce l'hanno come il medesimo gioco. Beh dai comunque i dialoghi sono facili da comprendere e al massimo potete aiutarvi con i sottotitoli,sempre in inglese. Comunque le condizioni sono perfettissime sembra proprio un gioco nuovo da negozio,contenente i codici per sblocco bonus e passport uplay.

Buen juego para echar unas horitas, barato y en español.Recomiendo que no se compre si lo que se pretende es pasar de la campaña y jugarlo online
