Feathers are largely protein in nature, which is why 18 free amino acids have been included in NEKTON-BIO to help a bird build the proteins needed. Of the amino acids, arginine, methionine, and lysine are particularly vital in a supplement because most cage or aviary birds are fed on bird seed, which is poor in these amino acids. Vitamins A, E, and Biotin also have a positive effect on feather growth. Altogether 13 vitamins, 6 trace elements, and calcium have been combined with the amino acids to create a special formula to support the organism during the moult and encourage the growth of smooth and glossy feathers. **Q: do you add this to food or water?**
A: I only add to water with the plastic spoon that comes with the vitamin. Also do remember to level it out on the spoon/even it out on the spoon.

**Q: Is this product safe for Eclectus? My newly adopted eclectus has a plucking problem.**
A: Nekton is a respectable product and would clearly label any precautions for specific species of birds.  Plucking is a complex problem that isn't likely to be helped by one single supplement. Best to provide your bird with a stimulating environment and lots of love and interaction.   What this product does is provide some of the necessary nutrients to help grown new feathers; and it does that quite well.

**Q: What are the 18 amino acids? I see the listing for the trace elements and minerals, but no amino acids.**
