It’s too thick and heavy for spearfishing.Also, the length of the sphere does not allow a full tension on the rubber spring

I'm excited to use this soon, and I'm sure it will perform just from handling it. Here are my notes:I believe the pole sections themselves are hollow. Assembled, I gave it the bend test against the floor and flexed it about 3 inches, but it was very stiff. I'm sure it will handle any shots you could possibly make with this size spear. The section fittings and tip are stainless steel, non magnetic and fit well. Seems to be a chrome coating on the stainless fittings, which will most likely corrode fast, no getting around that. I think once that happens I'll hit them with my wire wheel and then soak in coffee overnight to blue them. You could add bands if you wanted to, switch tips if you use the right thread. It breaks down small enough to go in baggage and the bag is very handy and has room for many accessories if needed. The file is not usable... but only because it is huge and has no handle. It appears to be a quality file actually as I did use it to sharpen the rounded tip of a punch I use and it was harder than the punch steel... so I'll happily add a handle and use it in my shop, but a much, much smaller file would be far more appropriate for this.There are no instructions, but if you need instructions to screw together two sections of fiberglass and loop a lanyard on the end of the handle you probably shouldnt have a pole spear until you learn a little more about spearfishing.In all, its a great travel spear. I saw one bad review, maybe that one was damaged in shipping because I have no complaints. Make sure you rinse it with fresh water, dry and wipe with oil after use and it should last a good long time.

Haven't had a chance to use in the water yet but it dry-fires like a champ. Well made and no doubt will get the job done.

The tips are the best part of this by far. They are well honed, and each tip has a barb on it. They come with a cap to hold them together for storage, which I highly recommend keeping; the tips are dangerous without them.As for the rest, the rubber tubing doesn't have the good springiness necessary for a powerful launch. The rubber is thin, so it doesn't have the body of thicker tubing. The pole sections are very thick for a Hawaiian sling. I believe this does affect its ability to thrust forward through the water in the wiggling, vibrating motion that it should. I also have concerns about assembling everything by screwing. With use, I can see these connections working loose. I'd prefer if there were some way to lock in the screw-together parts.I gave this three stars because it is a good solution for traveling since you can disassemble it and pack it right in your suitcase. The tips are also quite good, but the body leaves some to be desired.

I have had more than a few of this type of fishing spear in the past. Most of them have been great, where some have not even screwed together right, or at all. This one works great.They have included everything you Need, even a carrying bag to keep it all together. You can use it in the 3 foot version, or 6 foot. And it comes with a sharpener, in case you hit too many rocks. It is just a large file, but it will straighten your barbs in no time.It takes very little space, well disassembled. And, It takes very little time to assemble it, so there's no need to carry around all put together. Even though it does come with a protective cap for the tip. Everything screws very clean, and stays securely together. The elastic band has more than enough and tension to do the job. And, is fully replaceable, when needed.Overall, this is a great spearfishing kit. It comes with everything, even a carrying bag, and sharpener. Very nice spear, and head. Works exactly as described, and expected. Highly recommended.
