Great for ball of foot pain!!! And you can't beat the price!
I am so surprised at how much I love these insoles! I am a long time gym owner, athlete and martial artist so I have abused my feet with daily grueling training sessions for most of my life. Over the past several years I have had many foot problems, pain, and injuries...Everything from plantar fasciitis to Achilles and peroneal tendonitis and now, ball of foot pain. I have always had naturally flat feet with very low and narrow insteps, which can make me more prone to certain foot conditions, combined with my "balls out" (pun intended and figuratively speaking, lol!) training regimen. I finally sucked it up and went to a podiatrist a couple of years ago for the plantar fasciitis which just wouldn't go away for almost two years and was really affecting my workouts. With a combination of steroid injections (which I was loath to do but finally agreed to try it), $400 custom orthotic insoles and daily foot exercises and stretching, it fully healed. I don't like the Band-Aid approach so I do everything I can to keep my feet strong, supple and healthy, to me daily exercise and stretching of the feet is no different than daily workouts or showering and brushing your teeth, it's a lifestyle. My podiatrist told me, and I completely agree, that the most important thing you can do for your feet (and all your joints, for that matter) is to keep your weight at the low end of your healthy range. We were having a whole conversation about this and he said he couldn't even bring the subject up with some people as everyone's so sensitive about their weight these days, head in the sand and all. It's hard for me to be super light like I was before I started training as I carry a lot of muscle. For me, dieting and eating healthy is easy and even relaxing. The way you feel both physically and mentally is the ultimate reward, looking good is an added bonus but not why I do it. I almost never feel tired, and I'm in my late 40's. I truly enjoy dieting, fasting and meditating, make it your lifestyle and it's no longer a chore. The training is harder and requires more discipline and focus and go all out day after day. Basically I keep myself where I can always see my abs, that for me is the easiest way to instantly tell if I'm at a healthy weight. Anyhow despite all that I couldn't get rid of the nagging ball of foot pain which was driving me nuts. My favorite cardio machine is the Versa Climber, and I started to find that my foot would bother me after maybe 20-30 minutes, where I used to do the machine for 45 minutes regularly. Also jumping rope became a problem, I had to cut it down to 15-20 minutes at a time, not happy! I also feel it sometimes while walking, especially in boots, which I love to wear when I'm not at the gym. I walk a lot, and I walk really, really fast, kind of speed walking on the sidewalks and then sprinting across the street if there's at least 3 seconds left before the light changes. I basically see every activity as an exercise opportunity, lol! But it's what makes me happy. I finally accepted that it was age related degeneration of the foot pad's fatty tissue, just another lovely side effect of getting older. I found that my $400 custom orthotics were not helping in that area as much as I'd like as they were mainly for the plantar fasciitis, which I no longer have, and they are also not very comfortable. So I saw these ridiculously cheap insoles and thought, what can they possibly do? Worth a try. I bought these, and also the Sof Sole Thin Fit Lightweight Comfort Shoe Insole for Low Arches. I put one of each insole in my boots that I walk a lot in to see how it felt. They fit perfectly in my size 7 boots, no trimming. Wow! My boots felt like my sneakers! Sooo comfortable. I didn't feel the ball of foot pain, even when I busted out some jumping jacks and burpees in my living room, with my old dog giving me the hairy eyeball, like, "Yup...Mommy done lost her mind!" The "Athlete" version has better cushioning than the "Thin Fit", especially at the ball of foot, though it is slightly heavier. I guess it's a trade off. Also the gel part has a bit of a chemical smell, but come on, how often is your nose in your shoe? And I think the gel better mimics the fat pad at the ball of the foot, or lack thereof, which is my problem. I had every intention of keeping only the more comfortable pair and returning the other, but I actually decided to keep both, as I have some boots that I love to wear but the bottom is too hard and the "Thin Fit" will work while not making them too tight. Compared to custom insoles they're a steal. I actually went and bought a second pair of the "Athlete" version and also got one for my husband, who also has had some foot problems. I'll have to sneak them into his shoes since he's a typical old school guy, and well, you know how that goes. I can't wait to try them in my sneakers and see if they help with high impact cardio!

Like walking on pillows, but not squishy, and last forever.
Absolutely love these. Been wearing these since 2009 in all my running shoes and work boots. Had knee problems for over a decade that ceased after putting these in my shoes. I think $20 is a lot of money for insoles... but these are worth every penny. They are that effective. It's like running/walking on pillow, but not squishy. I am very active and these help keep my feet from aching after a long day.If you get a size that is too big, you can cut them to size without worrying about them unraveling or anything. I've used some of these for years, they are quite durable. I would recommend these to anyone, no matter what their activity level.I have regular to wide feet and a normal to low arch if that helps at all. For the women's, I am a size 7.5 to 8, depending on the shoe. If you are in between sizes like I am, if you have a smaller fitting shoe, get the smaller size. Otherwise, get the larger size and cut it down to size. I've used both the 5-7.5 size in tighter shoes (think minimalist running shoes) and the 8-11 size cut down for my work boots.

Good replacement insole
I wear shoes slightly larger than my actual size (for running), so I wasn't sure which way to go with sizing on these. I'm regularly a 7.5 but wear an 8.5 in running shoes for the extra space for my toes (neutral pronation). I opted to order the smaller ones to fit the 7.5 and was glad I did. They fit fine in my shoes with no trimming needed and the arch fell just in the right place. I've tried several after-market brands and prefer these so far.I need a slightly stiffer insole because of some loss of flexibility in my big toe joint, and I don't like full gel insoles (I don't like the squishy feeling). These have a little bit of gel in a few places, but not enough to bother me. They provide the right stiffness and made my shoes feel great. They also didn't take up too much space in my shoes. I'll be back to buy another pair for my Nikes, as well.

Just enough cushion for shoes that have none
These work great; got them after the balls of my feet were hurting bad after a short run. A week of rest plus these insoles let me do a 30 mile hike pain free (in the balls of my feet). These insoles are for cushion, less for support, which is exactly what I needed. Note that it's several millimeters thick, and will take up a lot of room in your shoe, so don't wear already tight shoes with these insoles.Accidentally lost the first pair so I'm ordering two more pair.

Lots of support for heel
I first bought a pair of these insoles in a sporting goods store. The salesman helped me pick them out for my particular issue. I had recently broken my ankle and needed better heel and arch support. My shoe is a Saucony women's size 8, and the salesman picked out the smaller Sof Sole for me since I'm on the borderline for insole sizes. (I wear a 7.5 in regular shoes but a size 8 athletic shoe.) These insoles are comfortable. My doctor said I should wear athletic shoes for three months, but when the weather is warm, as it has been here, I like to wear a bit of a lighter shoe. Trouble is most lighter shoes offer little support. So I put these insoles inside a sporty mary jane shoe and they work just fine. I want to keep the insoles in that pair, so I bought a second pair of insoles on Amazon for my athletic shoes. They fit snuggly in my shoe but are not too tight if I loosen the laces and they give me the heel support I need while I mend from my fracture. They are quite a bit thicker than the insole that came with my athletic shoe. FYI, be sure to remove the insole that came with the shoe before putting these in or they won't fit inside the shoe.
