GarageBOSS Clear 3.5 Quart Large Capacity Weighted Funnel, 1 Pack

This is a large funnel that works well with the weighted ring on my Kia Sportage 2.0 due to the design of the plastic cover. I remove the ring and this funnel works just as well in my Toyota Tundra 4.7 . As with all GarageBoss items that I own this funnel is well made and sturdy. The only real complaint is the funnel is a little spendy, I did have some reservations on the cost of this funnel and held off buying it for a while until I lost a $12.00 bottle of oil due to a cheap big box funnel failure. The cost of the oil, time and effort to clean the engine and garage floor made me decide to make this purchase and I don’t regret spending the money for good tools that work.

This Clear, 3.5qt Large Capacity Weighted Funnel from GarageBOSS is fantastic for adding fluids like oil and radiator fluid to your car because it holds so much. You won't need to stand around, pouring in a little at a time and then waiting for it to drain into the car. The funnel is clear so you can see exactly how much you've poured in. Way less messy. It also has a weighted collar around the base to help keep the funnel stable on the car. The weight works pretty well but it doesn't keep the funnel perfectly upright. Still, it's an improvement. The rim has 3 divots so you can theoretically rest the large container of whatever fluid you are installing on the rim of the funnel. This works pretty well for smaller bottles of oil. There is also a hole for hanging the funnel when not in use. So unless you are a mechanic, a funnel isn't going to change your life but it sure makes it easier and less messy when maintaining my car.

And I always thought that was just something my grandfather said. The times I could have and plan to use a device like this are many and ceaseless. It turns “if only I had…” into “no problem". While my automotive wrenching days have diminshed, I can easily see half-dozen places where this funnel would be a lifesaver, (there we go!) a coolant saver, you name it. Not to mention a safeness saver, transferring oil was never an easy task, and now it’s even a regulated one. With the wide mouth and tapered counterweight, I have found it to let any situation that calls for a funnel be almost always a hands-free process. The extra wide mouth is great for dumping smaller containers- or say, oil filters in to drain, not to mention so much easier to clean. The outlet is almost a full inch, so for me this is a great help in emptying my deep fryer. In an actual use, I used it to top off my radiator, and found that the weight was not quite heavy enough to keep it vertical on its own, but it gives a good flat spot for better balance. This didn’t help either since the radiator core is quite close to the fill port. The black rubber weight completely covers the opening, making it easy to overfill. But it still works where any others I have tried didn’t, and may end my bad habit of freehanding it. It was perfect for adding oil during a change, the weight rests squarely on the valve cover of my 22R, and the size of the cone let me dump in quart after quart, never falling behind and making me wait for it to drain, If you opened all of your oil and tried to fill it to the brim it would still probably keep up nicely, the funnel holds about 3 quarts, but with the low capacity of my Toyota engine I rarely do it that way. One surprise was how well the tapered portion fits snugly into smaller funnels with the ring removed. I frequently use a long necked one for various transfers, and the Garage Boss slides right in and stays put, increasing not just the girth but the length as well. It’s a bit ungainly for transferring liquid between 1gallon containers, the weight (actually a 4.4 ounce tapered rubber plug) doesn’t really help as much as I had hoped, (the “taper” is only about ¾”) but it does help throw the advantage back in your corner. I have a feeling as time goes by it will prove superior in just about any situation

I always seem to be creating funnels from heavy paper because I simply never have the right size funnel in the garage or shop. Even with an actual funnel, I'm always worried that oil or other heavy fluid will end up causing the funnel itself to fall over. My concerns are gone. This funnel, at just over 0.6 pounds with a significant weight at the base, stays in place even with three quarts of oil running through it. The spout is wide enough and short enough that it's easy to clean up afterward, but long enough to hold itself in place on the engine (and the rubber base can be easily removed if you want a little extra spout length). The carrying tab is hole-punched so this can easily be hung up on pegboard. The only thing I would add is a cap for the spout so that no dust gets in when the funnel is stored upside-down, but this can be accomplished with a square of parafilm (or tape in a pinch).

We like this 3.5 weighted funnel. We'll use it primarily for draining oil out of drain pan when we change oil in the car. It's also handy when pouring liquid out of big container. The rubber weight helps keep the funnel from tipping over. Clear plastic is great to see how it's all flowing. We're happy to have this in our repertoire of tools in our garage. This, in brief, is a stable large funnel which will help you keep the mess at bay when you're pouring liquids. We'll use it primarily for when we change the oil in the car.

Although a little higher in price than what you would expect for simple plastic, one has to admit that this is a well thought out product likely worth the extra coin. The top feature is the weight at the bottom -- who hasn't had a funnel move around either due to gravity or the force as you pour. This weight should greatly reduce spills and frustration. The weight can be unscrewed if it gets in the way, and it can be screwed in upwards or downwards. There is also half circle grooves to help stabilize the pouring or to hold a hose/tube. Finally, there is a tab with a hole in case you want to hang this up somewhere. All in all, this is a great funnel if you are in the need of pouring in large volumes of liquid.

Sometimes you might need a big funnel, and the GarageBoss does not disappoint. It's sturdy, and works perfectly to fill my commercial steam cleaner with water quickly. I really appreciate the weighted base, which really helps to hold it steady. Before this funnel my process to fill was holding a much smaller/inferior funnel with one hand to keep it level and steady, and a gallon jug of water in the other. Since the funnel holds so much I can get the job done much quicker as well as my steamer holds two gallons of water. Will be handy for many projects.
