A page turner for today.
Only started reading this book a few days ago and I've almost finished it...unfortunately, it's so good I don't want it to end. A gripping story with the feisty DC Ffion Morgan investigating. Such wonderfully described characters and a great sense of place, you feel as though you're there. Brilliant.

Good easy read book
I enjoyed this book. I felt the story wasn’t too heavy and was easy to pick up and put down. I wasn’t desperate to read on to the next chapter which I am with some books hence the 4 stars but it was an enjoyable, easy to follow story.

Underwhelming.
Very disappointed actually. Underwhelming. It looked like it had such potential but it was executed so so badly. I got into Claire Mackintosh after reading 'After the End', and 'I Let You Go' but this doesn't nearly compare (in a bad way). It doesn't develop the relationship much between Ffion and Leo. The first book in the series was ok in as much as I wanted to read to the end but only because I was mildly intrigued to see what would happen. This book however was really frustrating in that when you're reading a detective/thriller book part of the fun is being able to try to guess the killer. Without giving spoilers, with this one you can't do that because right towards the end she reveals a piece of info that you would have never guessed otherwise. It's equivalent of thinking your best friend is called Sarah and she's a lawyer then one day she says 'actually no my name is Mary and I'm a doctor'.TL;DR - The twist is NOT clever. It's frustrating and silly. The concept was good but badly executed.

Incredible writing from experience
Clare, a former British policewoman, jumped the literary rope and we are the lucky readers! Intrigue, jaw-dropping read. Add this to your summer read before its released as a tv series!
