Easy to read and follow. Actual tips and resources that you can use in real ways not just hypotheticals that don’t actually apply. Some points during transitions can be a bit repetitive. Overall it helped reinforce some things that we have already been doing and gave us a few things we are going to try.

I especially like the educational approach in knowing what to ask from the school systems in terms of support and resources available. I have little experience with dyslexia, but I work with parents of children with dyslexia. This book helped me understand the dynamics of the disorder, how it affects children academically and socially, what is myth and what is fact, and ways parents can guide their children towards success. And while this book is aimed at parents of boys, there are pearls of wisdom for all affected by dyslexia. I especially liked the book’s format with chapter summaries, and mid book/end of book reviews. Highly recommend!

I thought the first half of this book was incredibly impactful and very useful for our family. In our particular case, the second half wasn’t as useful. If you have a child (especially a boy) diagnosed with dyslexia, I think this is a great entry way into what that means, what resources are out there to help, and how you can support your son.

It's time to see dyslexia in a different light. This book is definitely synonymous with positive encouragement and power for both parents and the dyslexic son.
