SANSCO 3K Color Night Vision PoE CCTV Camera System with 1TB Hard Drive | 2 X 5MP Wired Home Security PoE IP Camera, Face/Human/Vehicle Detection, Remote Access, Plug and Play System, No Monthly Fee

I have had a Sansco Model 8704 NVR CCTV System for two years and felt it was time for an update of my original review. It continues to be a great CCTV system especially for the price, being Digital the quality is excellent both for live viewing via my PC and the XMEye Mobile Phone App recommended by Sansco. The recorded playback is sharp and clear and you can read number plates and see faces at a reasonable distance. Twilight and night vision are also very good going well beyond the white post in the picture [Note: The distance is enhanced in the photo by my neighbour’s IR LEDs on his cameras (not Sansco and his installer has been back several times!)] I have now installed two of these systems. I did have problems with a camera on each system, one was slightly out of focus at the edge from new and the other failed after 9months. Sansco Support are fantastic and replaced both with identical models with no quibble and under warranty. They were also able to advise on replacing the Hard Drive with a larger storage device which now gives me a month of recording history on all four channels. (This was changed after the warranty period). Their response is usually quick and precise and they are definitely one of the best technical Support Desks I’ve dealt with in a long time. This is a great system and I would recommend and buy other Sansco products based on my experiences with them. The Model 8704 NVR CCTV system was easy to set up and just sits there and works, which exactly is what you want from a CCTV surveillance system. Update: March 2025 Two years on and the six year old system is still working well, needing no attention except for one of the total of 8 cameras installed failing. These things happen. This has been replaced by an updated Sansco 4MP IP (PoE) Model 4699 Camera, recommended by the excellent Sansco Support Team, and has proved to be a simple “Plug and Play” swap-out and is as good, if not better, than the original camera. I have changed the Storage Disc to 2Tb which gives almost a month of storage before it is over written, again a simple “Plug and Play” swap. The system has now been successfully installed in a remote building using a Passthrough Powerline Wifi Extender with Ethernet Ports (from a well known manufacture) successfully connecting the main unit and some cameras to the house network and Broadband for remote monitoring. NOTE: A PoE (Power over Ethernet) Hub or PoE injector is required to power any cameras not connected directly to the NVR device, again being IP it didn’t require any complicated configuration work. I am so impressed with Sansco that I have purchased their newer updated system as I now require additional cameras.

I bought this system a few years back and the manufacturer wanted me to give it a review after I had made a support query, but I was not in a position to give it a review at that point as it had not been used much as the support query was installation related. Anyway, it has been installed for about a year or so now and therefore I am in a position to give it a bit of a review. Unboxing – A list of contents is provided and all components are neatly packed and labelled. Installation – With the PoE version the cables are pre-made with sealed connectors, these are very solid, but the only problem was where they connected into the camera housing waterproofing connector. The RJ45 connecter was that well sealed that it was too big to fit into the waterproof connecter cover. This is easily rectified by trimming the RG45 rubber seal until it fits the connector and can be screwed up to make it watertight. There is plenty of cable to use which can be trimmed using the proper crimping tools and a new RJ45 fitted as required. Setup – Attach to TV using HDTV lead and basic setup for me as I plugged all the cameras in switched on and right clicked the blank screen which was split into 4 and I selected channel set and search, this gave me 4 camera IP’s in the top section, I clicked ADD and they all appeared in the window below. Each one of these can be edited to give cameras specific names, apply and save. The CCTV system was up and recording. Test – Give it 10 mins and then right-click again on the main screen and select Playback, select time and date and the last 10 mins should now be recorded. Picture quality to me is very good HD quality, the built-in microphone picks up great sound and face detection is great as it zooms into people across the road and is quite recognisable for the distance. I have had a few expensive IR cameras before and the amount of spread the lights light up has been poor but these cameras light up a lot of areas and still give clear pictures. The system has quite a lot of features and alarms which can be set, like loss of signal, no room on HDD, camera gone blind, masking and alert areas and many more and all alerts can be delivered by the usual Mail, Internal Buzzer/Sound, FTP etc. I wanted a cheap CCTV system for the following reasons, Front of House: People allowing Dogs to foul on drive and pavement, Car getting keyed while parked on the road, Parcels going missing, general vehicle and house security. Rear of House: Security of outbuildings, Wildlife and who keeps moving furniture. Overall this system is a bargain at this price and now I wished I had bought the 8 camera version as due to Covid and working from home I wish I could see more views and rooms from my Home office without having to move. Support from Manufacturers is quick and they have been really helpful. Both times I have made a support request to the Sanso team they have replied within 24hrs and have always resolved any issues I had. Using the XMeye app on your mobile phone allows you to monitor your CCTV system from anywhere around the world where you have network connectivity and the ability to capture and save footage to your phone when required. The only problem I have with the Cameras is that spiders sometimes love to build their webs in front of them as the IR attract a few flying insects, so if you do order this system then order a cheap feather duster and a long garden cane to attach it to works wonders.

So, we bought these after we had a car stolen from the property (unheard of where I am usually) and we had them fitted the weekend after they arrived. The process of putting them up looked simple enough (I am a wheelchair user so nothing to do with the actual fitting) they didn’t seem to struggle anyway. So the set up my fella did, it again looked simple enough. The actual cameras video quality wise are good and the 1tb space means plenty of time before it records over. With regards to the “intelligent” alarm, well… it isn’t that intelligent at all. It is supposed to have human detection and face detection but the human detection pics up rain, cats & a bat flying past it amongst other things & the face detection isn’t as clear as I would like. The first option I was given was send it back, but I wasn’t about to pay again to have it taken out then pay a third charge for it to be installed again when it was repaired or replaced. I reached out to the seller both here and on facebook and although it has gone on over several weeks (time difference and public holidays there) the seller, to their credit has thoroughly checked all the evidence I have sent to them and we have tried lots of trouble shooting. The seller has settled on a partial refund which I am currently waiting on. Honestly though, even without the alarms on it is a great standard cctv camera system, it is easy to use and loads quickly in the app even skipping between the screens it loads pretty quick. Though there can be video blind issues at dawn or when security lights come on. I might have just been unlucky in the alarms being temperamental, others might be fine but if not, the seller will offer you plenty of help, just be patient with the time difference. Either way, just using it as a regular PoE set without alarms I have that piece of mind that evidence, should it be necessary is easy to get hold of and the recordings are clear in both night mode and day mode (if you use the “pro” app you may have issues with night vision, but on the standard app it is fine) With my part refund I will buy some separate motion sensors (which was the main reason we chose this kit) so ultimately I will have some in, albeit standalone but I will know my little eyes in the sky will be recording away for me. So in a nutshell… FEATURES (alarms) - not great, PICTURE QUALITY - day mode is great, night vision is decent (but some video blind issues at dawn or if the security lights trigger) and definitely use the standard app in my opinion. SELLER- helpful and knowledgeable with plenty of troubleshooting options. I have gone on for about 5 weeks, now! I will be lost without a daily reply! 😂🖤 I don’t know if I have missed anything but if anyone has a specific question, I can ask my fella.

Very impressed with this system, great quality, easy setup good app and night vision Also good after sales experience spoke to Grace who was more than happy to help. Notifications from the app come through well and has some good clips when motion is detected. Overall all great value for money. 👍👍

This item is well worth it's money. easy to install and very easy to use and opperate. The picture quality is brilliant and has been used already been used by the police and it was all in real time and can be recorded and sent out. This has now been in for a number of years with no issues and its never missed a thing. Its condition even after a long time is still in perfect condition. There is plenty of wire to reach everywhere in my house, because it's not wireless there's a bit of work setting it up but it's worth it because the picture quality is far superior to what you'd get with wireless. (the reason for the upgrade). This is also good to monitor when your away from home as I have used this when delivery drivers stated that they have delivered something but they took it away with them...... so this has been worth its money. Sansco are good and any problems have been sorted quickly by a very helpful customer service team. I'd highly recommend this system to anybody who wants a very good quality security camera set up.

Great product. Got these to add to my existing NVR. Had some trouble connecting, so I contacted Grace at Sansco. The advice and timing couldn't have been better. Very impressive customer service. Quality of the images is great, and these come with a both flashlight and infrared.

I bought my first Sansco system in 2016 for £200 (Kare 4 channel 720 P cameras and NVR) and have been really pleased with it over the years. It’s become an extension of our everyday life with the easy remote access using the XMEye App giving peace of mind even when on holiday helped solve the mystery of a few intrusions, famously including the visiting times of badgers regularly ruining our lawn (and video of my wife chasing them around the garden : - ). However, after 8 years of faultless operation a segment of the infra-red light LED’s on one of the cameras had stopped working (essential for badger patrol) so decided to replace the single camera. Having scoured the market soon realised that apart from 720P PoE cameras being in limited availability current ones were far superior offering 4K full HD, human detection, face recognition, audio, etc. so decided I’d more than had my money’s worth and to upgrade the whole system. This 8-channel system which comes with 4 cameras and all modern features was the equivalent PoE set and great value considering it's 8 years on. So having bench tested the new one before installation my first pleasant surprise was that the two systems can run simultaneously on the same network, so hey presto with a simple USB powered LAN splitter now I have the option of up to 8 cameras across the two systems and all of them can be accessed either using the original XMEye App or the later XMEye Pro. Need to note that whilst both are PoE with standard RJ45 connectors the cables do have different internal terminations and thus not interchangeable (can't use old cable with new camera) so decided to add just two new cameras for now but also have the benefit of spares. The cameras are sturdy quality with the same fixings as the originals (but white) which haven't shown any signs of age deterioration or age damage so expecting these to last just as long. Although the new cameras also have an auxiliary power connector incorporated into the lead this is not required and can be cut off or left unused without affecting operation. Setting up was really easy, although noticed that the menu options for the two Apps are slightly different and took me a while to figure out the motion detection setting, it's clear on the old App but the Pro just shows human detection (although motion detection is selectable on the NVR menu). Really like the fact that you can actually set the area of operation for alarm activation on each camera (like dragging a picture shape & size when cropping) and the audio, which surprisingly is good enough to hear the birds sing in the morning when listening in. Still tinkering with some of the sensitivity and light settings, etc. but overall, have to say very impressed and glad I went for the upgrade and future proofed if my old unit ever gives up the ghost.

By reading many reviews for competitive systems like this I settled here. It's not really that bad but just didn't meet to my expectations maybe for what I am looking in quality is to spend on a higher budget. But anyways pros and cons I found: + Easy enough to setup the camera to the system unit including using basic settings and having the chance to alter many of the settings. + Good that the camera is powered by the system unit and not needing separate plugs for cameras. + Nice feature to connect to network and view remotely. - Picture not as crisp as I thought however will be sufficient to live with. - Ad mentions NVR buzzer, I have searched all across the settings and cannot find this buzzer. - Not always able to detect someone on property yet it does identify my dogs. - Video-Blind mode when active is too sensitive and even at night for no reasons it pings me and the camera recording goes dull/bright and vice versa. - Sound recording is too noisy and does cut out in conversations etc. Tried a diff camera and cable but same issue. - The internal side of the glass cover where the IR's are housed keeps gaining large amounts of condensation. -+ One bit of annoying although could be the weather climate: is during an afternoon the camera fogs up the picture quite often. My verdict is if you can live with any of my negatives then it would be right for you, otherwise might be best increasing your budget to see if there are better alternatives out there.
