Desperate times lead to desperate measures.
Strange how we so often jump to conclusions bass on the information we are given without listening or getting all sides of the story. This story of abject poverty and a desperate family is a classic example of that. A family of ten children who sells their youngest in the slums of London with each of their other children escaping the home as young as twelve. An intriguing story in a search to find those children and what happened to them.I could hardly put it down waiting to see who would or would not be found next.

Good story
The story started out brisk and tense and then slowed down which is why I gave it a four star. However the fact thAt love prevails above all kept the book a great read.

A DREAM COME TRUE
This book is lovely and surprising at times. I knew Harry would be found but looked for him all the time after the middle of the book. Was so pleased the way things turned out.

Fantastic Book about selling a child and her search for her biological family
On of the best books I have read and I read a book every day. The premise was very interesting, beyond a child being adopted. The book was very difficult to put down and after I finished, I wanted more and so I began to re-read 6 of my favorite passages. I loved the characters, especially Queenie/Ellie, her father Albert, her brother Ted and her beloved Nanny. I will definitely be ordering more by this author!!

A little girl changed so many lives.
This book is totally exciting all the way through. A hard to put down book that keeps one anxious to see how each event develops and ends up. Very well thought out and put together. One's emotions are in play from sadness to great joy and excitement all the way. Loved it.

An enjoyable book!
I enjoyed reading this book. The book kept me guessing all the way through. A large, poor family of ten children and two parents fell onto hard times. The parent sold their youngest child who was only two and half years old girl to a wealthy lady who could not have any children. That is were the story starts. This story goes on and tells how Queenie who has been named Eleanor grew to love and respect her adoptive parents and forgotten her past life . After the death of her adopted Mother, Eleanor's father lets her know she was adopted and the story goes on to explain how she finds her original family.

Great read
Such a great read and loved the story line. In all the books,I’ve read in 65 yrs I’ve never come across a story line where a child is sold, grows up with wonderful parents and then with their support found her first parents. It felt like you were living the story with Queenie and feel her hurt and joy. Her adopted father was strong and so loving with her.Bonus was nanny and her finding HarryYou’ll love this story.easy reading and colorful

Loved the story and characters in this book
Loved the story and characters in this book. There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming, just when I thought I had the story all figured out, I was suprised at the outcome. Of course, I love a happy ending, and this didn't disappoint.

A good story, well written and what I call a page turner. It gives a good illustration of how hard life was for the poor in those times; although I did find Albert Warrender a bit too good to be true. but, it is fiction after all and I enjoyed the read and I guess that's all that really matters.

Great story
Story of rich &poor some think the two never mix but this proves you can be wrong. I loved the story line & found it difficult to put down. Life was very hard for many large families ,the workhouse was everyone's dread, but that made them do or make difficult reactions. You must read this lovely tale for a great ending

Good read
First time I have ever read anything by this author and have to say I really enjoy the whole storyline in this book. How Eleanor's life changed when she was sold by her parents to a childless couple, Eleanor (previous name of Queenie) never lost her fighting spirit
