...for most people it will be easy. In my case, the outlet box was barely big enough to house the rather large and bulky outlet - they're all that way if you want USB. I removed the old outlet on the kitchen island and, luckily, needed only a white and hot wire (2 wires) install, plus ground. Shoving it into the box was a chore and getting to to seat was even harder. I hope your outlet box is larger than mine (was built for standard outlet, not new, modern plugs plus USB outlets). Speaking of the USB outlets, the standard USB and USB-C are centered on the outlet, easy to use once installed. The printed instructions that come with the outlet are simple and direct. The idea of a 'snap on' faceplate didn't appeal to me at first, but now that I installed it (and did not just re-use the old one) it looks much cleaner. Phones charge fast with USB-C. We plan to upgrade other strategic outlets in the house. Very handy.

Now that it is in, it works and looks great. First the good. The USB C ports supply more amps than most charging bricks, and without the charging bricks in the way you now have the regular A/C ports to use. However, you can only use them for a small plug.. not something like a charging brick which will most likely try to overlap the ports. That's OK, a fair compromise for being able to get 3 devices and 2 A/C plugs in one wall plate. The install pretty much requires that the full diameter of the wall box be clear. In my case, the hole cut in the porcelain tile over the wall box was not quite big enough... you can imagine how much fun that was to deal with. Again... this is a fair compromise since you need a big chunk of transformer back there to supply the ports. As mentione in another review, it only has one screw per side, meaning you have to put the two hots and two neutrals (if there are other outlets down the line) on one screw each. However, the unit does provide a solution for this... you can straighten your wires, back the screw on the unit all the way out and slide your wires under each side of the metal plate beneath the screw. Then when you tighten the screw it clamps down nicely on the two wires. Any more than two and you would need a pigtail (the other solution). The final installation issue is related to a clear plastic retainer plate that is installed with two short screws. The cover plate snaps onto the clear plate. The screws are short! The will go, but, you really have to fiddle with them, possibly bended the metal on the unit that the shorts screws go into. One more round of threads in length would be super nice. All in all I feel a 4 star review is fair, good but not perfect. I would still buy them again.

They work very well and are a nice upgrade. They are a bit bulky, so if you have more than 3 sets of wires in your box, it can be very tight to install.

Added this to my kitchen table for convenience. Works great!

I bought 2 of these on prime day, to install on my kitchen island. I was able to install them both in less than 30 minutes. In our house, these are a must, between all the phones and iPad. Charging blocks take up too much space. I couldn’t beat the price for the quality.
