Everyone Should See What Patriots Endured
This is a good read. It will give you an idea of what our men went through in the Revolutionary War.

History
Had an ancestor in prison at the same time Ethan Allen was there. Am reading to try and find out what the captivity was like.

Surprisingly articulate and erudite.
For a supposed wild man Ethan Allen was possessed of a refined intellect and personal sense of dignity. This account of his mission to Ticonderoga and subsequent capture in Canada and the long captivity which followed details the brutality with which he was treated and his efforts to conduct himself as a gentleman in any case. The ordeal adversely impacted his health for many months to come. A must read for the insight gained on British government - and military - attitude toward the Rebels.

An Eye Opener!
An eye opening (for me) account of the capture and treatment of Ethan Allen and his men after they attempted to capture Montreal. I am a native Vermonter and must admit I had no idea what they went through at the hands of the British while incarcerated in England, and later in New York Harbor on prison boats. The latter was even more horrific than the treatment they received in England! It is an important account for anyone who is a history buff, especially regarding the American Revolution.

Proud American
I am so happy I have read this book. Living and working in Vermont I thought it important to learn as much as I could about our State's contributions to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Ethan Allen was a true patriot. I am honored to live in a State he was instrumental in its founding.

It is a bit difficult to understand having been written ...
It is a bit difficult to understand having been written in a language we no longer use and so have to parse what they mean. Read with a grain of salt. Ethan Allen was an unashamed self-aggrandizer.

A memoir
This is from Ethan Allen's own written account. Made available to kindle users for free. I have a true sense of the revolution, capture, the commitment of militias. Tonight I am going to start a book about Navy Seals. The contrast will be enlightening.
