Tastes ok
I make curry a lot, and so i am ok with having these as a sauce mix to add to other ingredients. But i don’t like that i can’t tell what the ingredients are in this. And the pictures sort of lead me to assume,, i just eat it on it’s own, with rice maybe? I don’t know, as there’s no English instructions. I did go to their website which is helpful, they call it CoCoICHI on there. It does say that you can customize your curry. But anyway, i chopped and fried some onions, mushrooms, chicken pieces and garlic, and added 2 of the packets. I thought I’d get a little wild and added some coconut milk as well, just in case it was a bit spicy, and to make there be a little more sauce. It tasted good, and did have a little kick, however i think the coconut milk diluted it a little.I didn’t heat or microwave the sauce prior to adding it to the pan, as it was going to get cooked in my curry anyway. I had it with brown rice, and it was tasty, but if i left out the coconut milk, I’d probably need 3 or 4 packs, because i like my curries to have plenty of sauce I’ve only tried Japanese curry once in a restaurant, and can’t say whether it tastes authentic or not, but Coco Ichibanya is well known in Japan, and they do have restaurants over here too. Anyway, i do like the flavour, but the price is a little hard to digest.I do have some pork shoulder in the freezer, so that’s my next curry with this, and it requires a long slow cook to get really tender. Also, i am have a pathological hatred of fat, and pork shoulder has a lot. I cook the meat low and slow, and then remove the fat afterwards, so this curry would take me a while to make, bearing in mind I’m going to fish out all the meat, and pick the fat off, befor even adding my curry sauce. I am liking the sound of it though.Based on price, i wouldn’t get this again, but i do like the flavour.

Spicy Tasty Curry
My first impression of this curry is somewhat reminiscent of many of the Indian curry pouches that you heat up in the microwave. The initial smell is very similar. This curry is mostly like a thick broth, with a few scattered vegetables and a few small pieces of pork (2-3 per pouch). That is where is differs from most Indian pouches, in that they are mostly vegetarian or vegan. The taste of these pouches is very good and the meat flavor definitely comes through. So, about the spice level. I like Tabasco sauce and that is really the spiciest thing I eat on a regular basis and I consider that a "medium" heat level. I'm not a big fan of anything much hotter than that, such as habanero and so on. This curry is not a mild or even a medium in my opinion. It falls somewhere between medium and hot. It is hot enough to be uncomfortable by the time you finish the dish, but not hot enough to make you tear up and sweat. My only complaint is that these are somewhat expensive. But I understand that these come directly from Japan and that Coco Ichibanya Curry is one of the most popular curries over there. So, you are paying for that. But for me, I'd probably choose a less expensive option, but I'd miss out on the great taste. So, I'm giving this 4 stars. I would have given it 5 stars if it was a little more affordable.

Not exactly sure what this is.
My wife loves curry and she is excited to try this. Obviously this product is from Asian origin as the entire box is all Asian writing, there isn’t any English or any other form of communication on it. This leads to an issue, because we have absolutely no idea what ingredients are in it other than curry. The product page for this product says absolutely nothing, it only shows pictures packaging with no pictures of the actual food product. There is no explanation of what it really is on the product page nor the on the boxes, other than Instant Curry. For that, I don’t know if it’s a sauce, if it’s a soup, is it a gravy …. No way to know. Of course with its origins being from across the pond, their standards for health are a bit different than our’s here in the states, so we don’t know what else is even in it. That makes us the mystery taste testers! The product pages only description is a picture of how to heat it up. Place the pouch in what I assume is boiling water for 5.-7 minutes, then place in a bowl with what looks like a cartoon version of rice. OR, heat in the microwave for 90 seconds. This is an option that you would need to remove from pouch, as the pouch is an aluminum type of pouch, not conducive for a safe microwaving experience. It is a liquid substance, of a sauce type of nature, it has that consistency. Outside the pouch, we don’t know if we are to add anything such as water, coconut milk, etc, or just consume it as it sits in the packaging. The package for each one is small, for more than one serving, you’d definitely use one pouch per person.. There are small chunks of something in it, I can’t say with certainty what it is, vegetable or meat, I am unsure. The product page says it’s a spicy pork flavor, but doesn’t say if it comes with actual pork in it.For the price, ouch…. At currently $88 for 10 pouches, that is $8.80 per pouch for a mystery sauce that we have zero knowledge of what’s in it. A dish at the Thai place is that much for an entire meal! Luckily my price for this was substantially less so that I could test it, and quit honestly, I’m a bit apprehensive in doing so. Yet, ….. I will, and I will update with the flavoring once we do.
