Then again, I've never gotten one before, either. The texture is definitely a little rich, but as long as you don't sweat, it stays pretty matte. As many others have said, it does go on white, but if you rub it in as well as you're supposed to, it quickly absorbs into your skin, leaving no residue. One pump should be plenty, unless you're the Sphinx. My skin has remained perfectly clear since I started using it (with exfoliation and cleansing wash at least every two days). It is not harsh at all, so I can only assume the people saying that it is are allergic to titanium dioxide or something. *shrug* If you plan to apply it every two hours like I usually do, I recommend splashing water on your face and wiping it dry first, because it does get a little greasy after the second application.
