Does the job great
I ordered the 4 inch version of this duct fan to exhaust smoke from an enclosure for a laser engraver, and this definitely gets the job done! I used the included brackets to mount this to the floor and it's very sturdy with no vibrations, it seems well made and moves a ton of air.As other reviews have mentioned it's on the heavy side, but that seems due to it's sold construction. You could probably take a baseball bat to this thing and it would still be fine. The fan is a bit loud but as far as I can tell that's just due to the amount of air it's moving. I have mine hooked up to a flexible duct and all the sound is coming from the "intake", it's not noisy near the unit itself. One minor issue I had was that the housing is not 100% air tight. In most cases that probably doesn't matter, but I am exhausting sometimes toxic fumes which I don't want in my garage. The problem was easily solved by applying a small amount of duct seal putty around the main housing seam, now it's perfect! It wasn't clear to me from the description if this included a power cord. It does, I didn't measure it but it's probably around 4-5 feet long.

Cheaper, larger, and more airflow than other 4 inch inline fans available
This fan is quite a bit larger than the other 4 inch inline fans I've tried. The VivoSun D4 claims to be 195 CFM and this claims to be 171.Ha! If this fan is 171 CFM, then the VivoSun is maybe 50 CFM. The difference is LARGE.This fan is quite a bit larger than the VivoSun D4, by about 3 inches, according to the specs, and is a good bit heaver as well. The added weight is likely due to the metal housing this fan uses, where the D4's case is plastic. If you're looking for something that can hook up to a 4 inch vent, moves a lot of air, and is the cheapest option (I could find), then this fan should get the job done.

Seems well-made
Enclosure is all metal and nicely coated with a dark gray finish. Very little vibration, moderate noise level (mostly flow noise). The motor appears to have ball bearings. Unit arrived with a small dent on the outlet flange, so the vendor may want to review the packaging and include rigid protective collars for the flanges.

A no nonsense fan that performs to expectations
No speed control, nothing you don't need to get going. Just plug it and the air flows! The housing us made of a decent grade of steel that will no doubt take some use and abuse...but it's not heavy like a boat anchor 😉There is a junction box in the housing that is roomy enough to place an SCR type speed control as an add-on if so desired. For a 4" duct aperture, this fan moves a very nice amount of air! I'm using this fan to replace the wimpy, built in fan in my vent hood above my range top. The duct diameter is the same and with the addition of some foil tape (made for HVAC ducts) I was able to make a good seal and achieve an EXCELLENT negative pressure inside my vent hood to remove any smoke or moisture incurred during my cooking processes. Since the fan is mounted away from the hood and more into the duct area (my attic) the noise is barely audible - just a low hum and the sound of rushing air through the metal mesh grease filter in my vent hood.I cut the plug off and wired this fan into the existing switch. Although it's a 2 speed switch, it's configured to run full tilt when the switch is in either the high or low position! So for me, this is a marvelous exhaust fan!So many uses for this fan as a inline boost for ducts or vents. For what you get, it's a great value at it's price point. Two big thumbs up...this thing really sucks!

Solid
I have some experience with these fans. I've never used this brand but it seems to be the same as others. These typically always work. It's usually longevity that matters with these. As of right now it is 5 stars. We shall see how long it lasts. If it does not last as long as others I will definitely update the review. But right now it is just fine. Some things to note for anybody new to these fans is that they are very loud. The metal housing with the fan and air pushing through it just creates alot of noise. Another thing to note is that you will need a fan controller if you plan to use it at a slower speed. I did test it with a fan controller and it worked fine. Make sure you also get the right controller for this fan. It should only turn off after going to max speed. These fans should not just be turned off and on unless they are at their highest setting first. Otherwise you most likely will find yourself with a dead fan.

Great Fan with SERIOUS Suction!
The fan arrived fast and in good condition. I plugged it in to test and discovered a noise. I took the housing apart and found that the fan assembly needed to be adjusted away from the housing itself. Not a problem and it fixed the issue. The fan installed easily. I mounted it to the trusses in my attic and connected power to an existing fan circuit for the bathroom that was controlled by a switch in the bathroom. It does a great job. Amazing actually. This is a really well built and heavy-duty fan that has everything you need for mounting. You will need additional clamps and duct to tie in your 4" vent if that's how you're configuring the fan. Pay attention to air flow direction as well. I highly recommend this fan assembly. It's an excellent value and works great. My expectations are exceeded! Order with confidence.
