Reading this book is like being invited into the club of these Russian guys! There are a lot of them besides Landau himself. What we call the Kremlin they call the Moscow Kremlin, for example. Until recently it was impossible to find out about the work of these guys without going there.

I enjoyed reading ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS ACCOUNTS OF THEIR LIVES AS PHYSICISTS.i Particularly liked reading of their student days, and how they outfoxed t5he Soviet bureaucracy.

È un libro bellissimo che aiuta a capire in che difficile realtà si è sviluppata una delle scuole di fisica di maggior successo. In ogni loro parte le testimonianze di vita ed amicizia, che si sono sviluppate parallelamente alla crescita scientifica, sono toccanti e ci informano sui rapporti umani fra allievi e maestri.
