The game consists of a box with 12 bars numbered 1-12 that can be in an up or down position. The game starts with all bars up. Players roll dice and press down the corresponding number or combination of numbers that add up to the roll of the dice. For example, if a 10 is rolled, the player can put the 10 down or a 6 and 4, 7 and 3, 2 and 8, or 9 and 1. Once a numbered bar is down, it is out of play. The object is to roll until you can't make the number. So if you roll a 9, but all you have left is a 4 and a 1, your turn is over. The object is to shut the box or get the lowest score possible.Once the students get familiar with their number facts, games go very quickly. When my students know their addition facts well, I have them use subtraction combinations also, making it easier to shut the box. This version goes up to 12; some versions I've seen only go up to 9. I like the bigger version, but it is a relatively large box, so you need to have the room to store it.This game is great for home and school.
