Aquila 68U Bass Ukulele Strings Thundergut, GDAE, Tuning Stability [Set of 4] White

No point reviewing guitar strings - everyone has their favorites anyway. Well, maybe balanced tensions. But these are objectively better than what come on a Kala Rumbler Ubass. The tuning stability is far better now. My only complaint is with the Rumbler not having a backplate for restringing, which means my fourth string now has a nick in it from desperately sliding it around trying to find the freaking hole before I figured out the better way to do it. Thus the point of the review, for anyone with a Rumbler: The strings come knotted on one end. Knot the other end, then unknot the pre-knotted end, saving the little plastic ring on it, and slip it through the hole on top. It's much easier to get the string to come out of the soundhole than to come out of the tiny string hole. Grab it through the soundhole - some hooking tool, even just a pen or a marker with a bent clip, is helpful. Pull it up through the soundhole all the way, so the knot you made is what's holding it. This way, no part of the string you'll actually be touching when playing has anything rubbing against it forcefully. Slip the plastic ring back on and reknot it, using pliers to pull it very, very tight. Use force, and try to get the knot to rest in the same position as before if possible. Which can be a bit tricky. Then pull the string back up and string it, and the only nicked bits should be bits that don't matter. I should really buy another set now that I figured that method out, 'cause otherwise I'll be stuck with a nicked string forever, as these things, like nylon strings, last for freaking ever. Except there's no wound bits for grime to get stuck in, so even longer than that.

I put these strings on a 1/2 size classical guitar that I converted in a bass uke. They work great! I'm very happy with the feel and sound of them. I did have a little trouble installing them as per the instructions. The lowest string didn't to be stretched as indicated.

Ummm....well, this is my first purchase of these, and I'm new to the Ashbory bass, so I really have nothing to compare them to, other than they are easier to play than the regular silicone strings that come with an Ashbory. They take a LONG time to tune and stabilize, so be patient! I do wish they came in black instead of white...they look kinda hokey. But that's just me being nitpicky.

Why don't Ashboury basses just come with these? I know it's a lot of $ for a set of strings that aren't "specifically designed" for the Ashboury, but I'm sure glad I took the risk. They fit fine - and went on with out any "hacking" or major surgery like you see for some other uke strings put on Ashbourys since these have brass aglets/grommets/balls that hold a knot in the string and fit into the Ashboury bridge nicely. Also I did not need to zip tie the the strings to put them on - except.... ...I had one defective string. I think it was the A string. The brass grommet fell off. It looked like corrosion or a materials problem. It was not a big deal I replaced it with a zip tie and have not had any problems (minus 1 star, but I will buy again). I used these to replace the stock silicone strings on a Ashboury bass after one snapped (they do that). These sound better to me, they have a less "rubbery" feel (they are more spunky), aren't as "sticky" as the stock ones, and have WAAAAAAYYY more stable tuning. Also I don't have to use the Slyde-Ryte power that came with the bass - yay. They are like giant, unwound classical guitar strings. I think these have more string tension which I happen to like. They have brass grommets on one end that fit into the bridge, just tie a knot around the tuning peg. They actually stayed tied w/o zip ties (some strings need zip ties because you can't knot a stiff cord end that is that short). These knotted just fine and have a little bit of give, so there is enough friction to keep tied. To be safe I didn't clip the strings for a few weeks in case things stretched, but clipped them and all knots are fine. HINT: They don't stretch as much as silicone, so you might need more "wind" in the peg, but these strings are forgiving, so just re-tie if you have to. However, they will "dent" or "crimp" like guitar strings, so you will be able to tell where a knot was taken out if you tie it really tight at first. I guess this makes them less "reusable" thank Ashboury strings (you can't just take knots out and re-tie without some signs of wear), but since they don't snap like Si or go out of tune every 15seconds I am really glad I switched. This makes my Ashboury seem more a "real" instrument, and less like a toy.

They work fine and sound O.K. but they don't stay in tune as well as they said they would. That's no big deal because all of those kind of strings have a lot of stretch to them.

Serious Ashbory player -- and the Aquila strings gave me the resilient quality of the Pahohoes with the tone of the original Ashbory strings -- plus a sustain that last for days! A MUST for any Ashbory bass.

I like my intonation a little better over previous strains, both metal and black original polys

The e string is almost impossible to tune. Have to use a pliers. I have had these b4 and were ok.

They sound great

Just to say that these are a vast improvement in every way on the Fender Strings for the Ashbory bass - They stretch far less and settle in a week and they do not break (so far.) Sound just as good to me, though a little different and they feel less "sticky." After three months I can say they are much better than the original strings and I would always use these in preference.

張り替えて2日。まだ音は安定せず、調整をしている時期でした。 音質には満足していたのですが、練習中に2弦がいきなり切れる、というか結び目が抜けて切れました。 以前、ネットで結束バンドで留めてあるという記事があったのですが、今のバージョンはプラ製のハトメみたいなもので結び目に留めるという簡単な構造です。 大丈夫かな？と思ったらやはり抜けました。 もう少し考えて作っていただきたいものです。
