Solution to solve stabiltrak/ abs /low traction error messages on our Volt
My wife's Chevy Volt was giving progressively more and more stabili-trak/traction control/ABS dashboard warnings and finally threw a C1233 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and a check engine light (CEL) which pointed to the passenger side front wheel bearing's ABS reluctor tone ring or wheel speed sensor or wheel speed sensor wiring harness. The error messages were more common when the road was a bit rough. Our local Chevy Dealer quoted $462 to remove and clean one bearing and reassemble, and an additional $200 IF that bearing needed to be replaced on each side.I got the bearing and wheel speed sensor "just in case" for our 2013 Chevy VoltThe bearing from Amazon was Genuine GM part # 13526966) made by ILJIN in the USA.I watched some youtube videos showing the magnetic tone ring on the back of the bearing rusting and crumbling away for cars in parts of the country with harsh conditions. I live in a warm and dry part of the country, so I suspected that the magnetic tone ring had attracted road debris. I got this bearing just in case.I borrowed a set of drive shaft sockets from my local auto part store's loaner program.I jacked up the car and removed the wheel, wheel speed sensor, the brake caliper, the axle nut, and the bearing.Sure enough, there was a thick layer of black dust stuck to the magnetic section on the back of the bearing and the bearing seemed smooth and functional, so I cleaned the magnetic section of the bearing with some napkins and reinstalled and cleared the trouble code... We still ended up getting stabilitrak and low traction messages so I cleaned the other side and still no improvement... Next I replaced the passenger-side wheel speed sensor and that did the trick 🙌Took me about an hour total per side to getterdun and a bit longer to put all the tools away and do a test drive.Be advised that if you remove the bearing there is a paper-thin metal washer between the bearing and the half-shaft... One side was reusable and the other was broken and the part seemed unnecessary, so I did not replace that thin broken washer.

Was 100% the same as the one I was replacing. It fit exactly and works perfectly. I easily saved $150 doing this myself.
