Review: Got this meter as it is able to detect alpha beta and gamma decay unlike some cheaper models which only detect beta and gamma. This allows it to indirectly detect the presence of radon gas (an alpha emiter). i used it to check my basement bedroom and sure enough, almost immediately found a 50% increase in activity where i sleep. While in my case, the levels are still within safe exposure limits (further testing will have to be done though), they say radon gas kills more people than drunk drivers do. Better safe then sorry and 250$ is a pretty small sum to put on one's long term health. GMC-600 Plus is the latest model. **Q: What is the difference between this and the gmc-600 plus geiger counter? the price of this is way less than the gmc-600 plus which looks similar.** A: This model uses a Russian made sensor while 600plus uses a US made sensor.
