Nice little engine
The media could not be loaded. I had a little issue with the glass tube not being quite inline but now it goes great.

Beautiful design, elegant and effective.
I am a fan of small pieces of human ingenuity and enjoy learning how they work, so I picked up a Stirling engine. This Sterling engine is outstanding in appearance and style and performs as described.Playing around with it, I discovered on a normal ceramic mug filled with water just below 100 deg. C ( 212 deg. F) it ran for 69 minutes. On an insulated mug on bottom and a chilled heat sink on top, it it has run for 168 minutes, and is still going (I have other things to do, so....)The tempered glass components give a good view of the working mechanisms. If you like this kind of thing, I would recommend it. If you are a science teacher, professor or an engineer this model gives a good representation of the physics involved.

Quiet and well built
Works better than expected. It is extremely well built and runs quietly. I have it sitting on the edge of a gas fireplace and when the fireplace is on I just give it a little turn and off she runs. Works great. Just remember that it is a low temperature Stirling engine so don't overheat it.

Happy, But one minor hiccup.
The media could not be loaded. I have been wanting to order one of these for a very long time and finally pulled the trigger yesterday. I have it set up and running on my desk using a coffee cup warmer as a heat source. It has been running now for about 4 hours and is as intriguing as I hoped it would be. But not without a small problem in getting started. I am an engineer by trade and am fascinated by just about anything mechanical in nature and design. I unboxed the engine this morning and set it up and got it running but noted that it ran slower than expected and had a noticeable ticking noise and a roughness in the motion of the piston. I disassembled the piston and removed the glass tube/cylinder to find the o-ring that holds it in place had been damaged during the assembly process causing the cylinder to be misaligned. I removed the skived off piece, cleaned the cylinder and reassembled it taking extra care in aligning the cylinder. After replacing the engine on the hot plate and giving it a spin it worked like a champ and has been running continuously ever since. It speeds up and slows down as the hotplate cycles on and off so it is not just a monotonous noise but more like a background fluctuating rhythm. Even with this slight hiccup I am extremely happy with my purchase.UPDATE;This engine has been running on my desk for 8 hour a day since the day I got it without a single hiccup. I have gotten tons of comments and questions on it. I would highly recommend it if you are thinking about buying one. I am very very pleased.
