Very sceptical about this but thought for the price it was worth trying this before calling in a firm. According to my husband it is very strong. Such that it is hard to set. But once it was in the correct location it caught the mole within the hour.I did feel very sad when I saw it but it was obviously quick and didn’t suffer.

Trial and error but worth the effort
Bought 3 of these a couple of weeks ago. The photo is of the two moles caught so far, at either end of the same trap which I think is unusual. This is my experience of using these:Firstly they are not difficult to set but take practice. Edges are quite sharp so gardening gloves may help. Get the small metal hook catch roughly in place, use two hands to push spring down then hold with one while you get the catch in place. Then handle them gently.Find a mole run, not as easy as it sounds. I test with a stick betweens mounds for very soft spots. Dig with a trowel carefully to see which way the run goes, it is not always as you may think. Dig just enough to fit the trap and ensure holes are clear either end, so there is a clear run in at both ends.Get the trap so it is lined up cleanly with the run and fill at the sides to stop light getting in. Cover the top with loose soil and ensure springs have nothing to stop them but no light gets in.Check daily. They do not always kill the mole, sometimes just snare them. Don't leave them a few days.If there is nothing after a few days of checking move to another place. Sometimes they spring when the mole pushes soil in front of it, so getting the run clear either end of the trap is important.I'm not sure about moles smelling us on the traps, it didn't seem to effect mine.

It is safe to use
The springs are too strong. You have to be immensly strong to load it. After hours of frustration overnight I found a way too load it. You will need a good strong glove and two mole grips/clamps. Put one glove on. The lever has to go through the square on the trap, once you have achieved that continue to press down as far as you can and clamp one side the the first mole grip. Then clamp the left side with the other mole grip and you can then put the lever on the trigger. Hold the lever and the trigger together and gently remove the second mole grip to set the trigger. Then gently remove the first mole grip to set one one side repeat the procedure with the other trigger. It took me four hours this morning to get one set and half an hour to set the second. This mole trap is extremely difficult to use and only strong people can set it and be very careful, they bit me a few times.

Worked straight away but wont be using again!
I found a fresh mole hill, dug a trap size hole in the ground and lay it in the direction the tunnel was going. I was going to leave it there all day and check in the night but couldn't resist but to take a look an hour later. When I pushed aside the soil from the top, I noticed that one of the springs was up and then I noticed the trap was moving. I lifted it out and the mole was trapped and struggling for it's life. Had I left the trap until the evening or the next day, the mole would have had a very painful and slow death.I don't think it should be described as "more humane than ever" as I couldn't think of a worse way to die.In my mind I thought it was going to be an instant death but now I'm going to struggle to forget what happened.

My one is so strong we can't hold back one side spring.
My one is so strong we can't hold back one side. We are fine with one side spring but the other is so strong and tough no one here can get it to fold back to get the firing pin onto it. I tried and just had wire marks dug into my hand, hubby tried and pulled his elbow muscle and my 19 stone workman brother tried but couldn't hold it back. Trap has gone into ground with only one side set so I am not sure if we will catch anything. We re review if anything works. I've ordered a second one and if that is good I will use and re review but if it's as stiff as this one it's going straight back.
