Workshop Materials: No. 30 (Workshop Practice Series)

This book is a fantastic guide to all the materials you could possibly want to use in small and model engineering. It ranges from all the commonly used metals to solvents and acids, by way of mixing your own model engine fuels and anodising aluminium. All the metals are discussed in terms of their use, ease of working, and suitability for their intended purpose. If, like me, you are approaching workshop techniques from the complete idiot direction I think that this book is both invaluable and indispensible. Need I say more?

Good book realy informative.

I was looking forward to this so much so I start reading it on the 1st night I received it. I was however put of by layout problems and obvious mistakes in the first few chapters. . The mistakes which are probably typos however have dented my overall confidence in the book.

Very useful information especially for a beginner inthe workshop well worth the money

This is probably not the sort of book you will read cover to cover but it is a very useful guide which you can dive into as required. It has a definite bias towards model engineering like most of the books in this series but the information has a wider application too. Definitely one for any budding engineer's bookshelf. Recommended.

A useful addition to my workshop library.

Good first reference book on materials. Useful introduction to the classification and designations of steel types. If you are making somethingimportant, get this book rather than just reach into the scrap box for something that might be right.

A very useful booklet as it covers virtually every material that is readily available and can be used for various projects, not just model making etc.
