Buying ink or toner cartridges is a lot like buying tires. There are relatively few producers and numerous independent private label marketers. Searching Amazon for HP M15w cartridges produces 542 distinct product listings. Carefully studying the photographs suggests there are many marketers but only a handful of producers, but which is which?Reviewing cartridges is fraught with difficulty. I can easily determine if they work in my particular printers. I have no idea as to the amount of toner, the quality of toner, or whether the ID chip will work with any other model or age of printer.Accordingly this review is limited to what I know - the box is nicely designed, the packaging is appropriate, and the cartridges work well in my two M15w printers of indeterminate age.An afterthought - this line of thinking suggests to me that the best cartridge buys are perhaps half the price of the printer manufacturer's cartridges but not a whole lot less - As a sage once said, "There was never a product but what someone else made it worse and sold it for less."For me a second guide is Amazon's listing of the number sold in the past month. I expect the number sold correlates highly with product satisfaction so I generally stick with the lowish cost big seller. It is clearly very difficult for a newcomer to break into this business after other sellers have an established position.

These toner cartridges (48A) fit my HP LASER JET PRO MFP M29W. The replacement process was simple and printing resumed seamlessly. The price point for the pack of two seems to be fair compared to similar products. A year or two ago we bought a new toner cartridge and it cost $80 for one cartridge. Looking around now the price is now $58 for one official cartridge.I was excited to test this out and it was perfect. There are very small superficial differences between the official toner cartridge and the new generic one (and honestly, it could be that these changes follow an official upgrade that came later.) It plugged in. It printed.Because this didn't have much info when I ordered it, I looked at other generic toner reviews for 48A toner. I did want to pass on that if your printer is refusing to read the toner cartridge, or is acting up, you can remove the little green microchip on the corner of your old cartridge (if it is official) and put it in place of the microchip on the generic cartridge, and that should solve any software roadblocks HP throws up to bend one over the expensive ink barrel.However, I did not have to do this. My printer read this just fine and acted like it was an official cartridge. I would have given this five stars for one cartridge for $28, but two cartridges for $28 and I didn't have to fiddle with microchip placement? I wish I could give it more.
