My son pinched himself twice on it, despite it having a safety cover over the metal tab you push to release. Now he's understandably hesitant to use it.It's actually kind of a hard thing to explain to a kid, that you have to brace the force of an umbrella before you release that catch, or it suddenly releases all at once.. If there's skin on the metal shaft, or to the side of the clip, it's going to be pinched.It's accentuated because it's very 'sprung' and pressured in it's open position, which also makes it rather difficult for a young child to open and close.It looks really cool, but, considering the operator, this is a real problem.

My son is in love with this umbrella! I can't pry it away from him. Lol. And, the quality is top notch.The points of the metal have protective plastic for the kiddos. This is not some cheaply made crap. I've been purchasing rain gear from the company since he was a toddler of 2. He's now 7.... The only thing is it's difficult on his little fingers to close it.I also love that it comes Down over the shoulders to actually protect him from sun and rain. Awesome!

Cute umbrella for the space enthusiast. It has more of a dome shape than most umbrellas. It does not have a button to push for automatic open, so I have to open it for my son (4.5) each time because he can’t do it himself yet.

The umbrella is a good quality and it has no absolutely dye smell. Worth every penny. My son is in love with this umbrella. He is 3years old and has no problem with holding it and it fits his personality. We have not used it outside yet, but he can wait for the rain to come so he can go outside with it. Most likely will be purchasing rain boots from this seller.

Easy for my 4 y.o. to open and close. I like that the dome points downward and the pokey things have safety guards so no one gets jabbed as they stumble down the sidewalk. It’s proportional to a toddler so don’t expect to more than 1 kid to fit underneath.

My grandson is 5 and loves all things space. He thinks some umbrellas are too babyish, but loves carrying this umbrella.

Our son would like it better if it had a curved handle, but he thinks the little alien handle is ok. The button to close the umbrella is easy to use and doesn't hurt your fingers.

Best sheer quality umbrella I ever purchased for my 6 year old son. He loves it. It’s thick, and sturdy. Highly recommend it.

Love this umbrella, as does my son. Really fun and whimsical but practical and sturdy too.

At first we loved it because it’s a super cute and fun umbrella for a kid. We used it for the first time in the rain yesterday and it broke. We opened it and it opened too far, causing all the metal pieces to bend and now we can’t close the umbrella.

A bit disappointed by this product. The main pole was almost broken (crooked), so much that we couldn’t lock the umbrella in the open position. Where the bend was, it was also split open. Luckily, with some tools we managed to “uncrook it”. Still works but we have to open it delicately... for a 2 year old this meaning is inexistant, so waiting for this umbrella to break at any moment!
