Voilà (3rd edition) A French Course for Adult Beginners: Coursebook Paperback – 27 Jun. 2014

Big help in revising my knowledge of French, not used for some years. It seems to be unavailable at the moment, get the presses rolling it should do well, but you can purchase it second hand.

I bought this book for a French course, and the book itself is very good. But be aware that this is only the book and the CD for the listening exercises is not included.

This book is very good but I should have bought the CD to go with it as there is a lot of listening to do before responding to the questions asked.

Only one fault. Once I received the book I realised there is an audio version. The book itself is clearly laid out and follows my French course perfectly. Just wish I had known about the CD extra before I ordered. I can now add to this review in that I have forked out for an extra copy. One with the CD included. Just wish I'd known this before purchasing the first time

Good book for Improvers at French classes or home studies. I found it moves quite quickly. Modern French with really useful phrases. It was the class book at evening classes for Us.

Recommended text for a French for Beginners Course. I very much like the format and content.

Not clear from the heading that the CD is essential for the completion of the workbook exercises. Completely useless.

Bought as used but in very good condition.

I am learning French at my own pace. This book is excellent with lots of vocabulary and examples.I only wish the authors could still sell the disc too.

I'm teaching a homegrown course of French and this textbook for adult beginners has been perfect. One drawback is that it's aimed at business travel (so very early on uses a lot of business titles for learning professions, for example) but each Unit is comprehensive, not overwhelming. Another is that it does not have any companion audio still available. The original dates from the early 90s and occasionally that shows despite very attractive updates to the book which make it seem very contemporary. It has been updated to euros, etc. That is probably why the audio has not been made available in any format, as it would not have been revised. That's fine if you can make up some text for students to listen to when the book indicates "listen to ...". Vocab and Grammar points are clearly denoted and color coded, Units end with comprehensive vocab lists and grammar points covered in the Unit, and some exercises which I have used effectively parceled out as homework. Every few Units there's a self check. I've been very pleased with the book, and have used it in conjunction with a basic vocab builder workbook for homework.

Arrived okay in good condition. The book is fine for adult beginners French.
