Great product, but you should check out other sources
I had been buying this product in the larger 9.5 ounce jars for several years, but when I went shopping at Costco in January 2025, they didn't have them available, so I bought the 12-pack of 6.5 ounce jars on Amazon instead. I like sardines, and often crave them. I've tried several brands, and I like the texture, smokiness and quality of these very much. The jars are convenient, and if you don't eat the whole amount in one sitting, the jars make resealing and refrigerating a bit easier than the smaller, typically 3.5 to 4 ounce cans do. I do prefer the smaller jars. I continue to explore other brands. I like the King Oscar offering, but it is in cans, and the sardines are not quite as firm. I tried the Crown Prince version, and like King Oscar better. If you are looking for guidance, there are several people on YouTube who do reviews of canned fish products. You may be surprised at how many options there are.Let's talk value. When I was back at Costco in early April 2025, they again had the Polar sardines in the larger jars. for about $13 for three jars. When you compare the price per ounce it is about two-thirds of what you pay when you buy the product on Amazon. Amazon is certainly convenient. However, if I continue to find it at my local Costco, that is where I will be buying it. It's a better value for the identical product. You can also find single jars of the larger version at some local Grocery Outlets, again available at a better price. If none of those options are available to you, and your supermarket doesn't carry Polar products, Amazon may be your best/only option.

Could not ask for better
I bought a can of olives stuffed with anchovies and it was a mushy paste with almost no flavor. I decided I would buy some real anchovies and just use that with olives. I was looking for these requirements: bold flavor, packed in quality olive oil, and firm texture. These anchovies seemed to fit the bill. I liked that they were caught off the coast of Sicily in clean waters, that was a big selling point. So... great strong flavor that is excellent, and a real chewy texture. They are even hard to break apart into small pieces with just my fingers. Obviously a little expensive but I think this small jar will go a long way. I plan to cook up some Italian paste and mix with garlic, olive oil, and pieces of these anchovies. Yum!

Great taste, glass jar, deelicious!
LOOOOOOOVE this particular brand of flavorfull olive oil smoked and packed in glass jar offering from the sea. I do not care for seafood AT ALL. Eat only to manage my cholesterol level to avoid prescription meds. Just wish Amz offered in the larger jar that Costco no longer carries. These FAR exceed in quality and flavor the many other brands of sardines i have suffered through. I eat thesebright out the jar, no mustard, onion, black pepper and served on some mixed salad greens to get them down needed!! Much cheaper and HEALTHIER than side affect laden presciption drugs!

Tasty
First and most important, very tasty. Minor surprise variation in size, I'm used to them being approximately the same. More seriously about 1/3 of the jar was more like a fish paste than individual sardines. I did eat it all and will probably reorder when my first half dozen are gone, though.

Poor shipping
Most the sardines were good, but product was shipped poorly. There was broken jars and mold all over the inside of the box just covered up with bubble wrap. It was shipped prime next day, and it already was moldy like it was days old.

Good flavor, good value, above average
These fish are 'two layer' small, hold their shape well with some peeling skin, and do not have tails. The texture is meaty and somewhat chewy; if you dislike canned sardines that are 'too soft', these might be more satisfying. I did not feel bones, fins, or skin, they are delicate. The taste is subtly briny and ubsubtly smoky, with a light fishiness. I liked the taste a lot, but I am a fan of unsmoked sardines, so not a 'smoky' expert. The oil absorbed the smoke and brine flavors, as well as a hint of olive, and was delicious in its own right. There are about 3 dozen fish per jar. If these were tinned, that would be 14 fish per tin. I suspect there is a higher ratio of oil to fish in the jar, but I don't care enough to weigh them separately. So, maybe two or two and a half tins worth per jar. These won't replace King Oscar for me (I like a velvety minnow), but they will supplement my diet. As an inexpensive source of cold-water ocean fish, and as a tasty treat, these are a good deal. I recommend you try them.
