An Encyclopedia of Ribbon Embroidery Flowers: 121 Designs (American School of Needlework, No. 3405)

I was impressed by the clear color photographs, diagrams and her clear tips and tricks. What at first was disappointment on how skinny the book was, and the black and white photographs seemed like they had been taken from a 1965-1968 publication, once I got past that and delved into her great instructions and saw diagrams of how to do each stitch, and then the finished flowers in the color photographs, I was happy to have it in my library. There are books where the authors talk you to death but don't SHOW YOU how to do it, and then there's Mrs. Hall who definitely knows how to teach beginners or intermediate embroiderers who are fearful of how to make flowers with ribbons. Buy the book. It's worth more than having to buy several books to get this much help. Ignore the seemingly small size and old black and white photos. It's content is timeless.

So happy I decided to get this book. I've been eyeing it for a while and wondering if it would be worth it. Yes, it's worth it.Deanna Hall West has taken a very thorough approach to this very lovely educational book.The pictures and instructions are great.I love that she says what size silk ribbon she used to get to the final look.So far I've only been looking through it but I know on my next crazy quilt square I will be putting many of these flowers and leaves on it.

Received this in a timely manner, and it's a lovely book. The illustrations are clear, and the instructions are very understandable. I took a class and did silk ribbon embroidery many years ago. I have always wanted to learn more stitches and embellish projects and clothing with it. Now off to purchase the necessary project items, ribbons, floss, thread, needles, fabric, etc needed.

This is a great reference book for any kind of silk ribbon embroidery flowers you might want to use. I really appreciated the chart that gave different brand of ribbons and their corresponding color matches, especially since Bucilla doesn't make their ribbon anymore. I'll be getting a lot of use out of this book for various projects.

The Encyclopedia gave me written & diagrammed views of stitches I was trying to learn. It was extremely helpful in accomplishing the stitching for my first ribbon piece.

I already have books on embroidery etc., but when I embarked on ribbon embroidery I wanted something that gave me a wider range of examples. This book gave me exactly that. It's easy to browse through (not a thick volume at just 60 pages) and is packed with flowers (and even a few insects!). Each flower shown has detailed instructions and if you don't know the stitch used, these are explained at the beginning. I would say you probably need a little familiarity with embroidery but even if a complete novice this book is inspiring and easy to follow. There are no projects but with such a large choice of flowers to sew, your imagination can run riot!!

recommended by tutor on ribbon course. seems to be what I would need to continue the craft. will be looking at when I use ribbon embroidery for bag decoration.
