The SpeedCross 4 Wide shoe is wider than its earlier version in order to allow more people to discover its comfort and efficiency. Sole: The Wet Traction Contagrip sole is made from smooth and resistant rubber that offers exceptional traction and support for running on wet surfaces. Fit management: The Sensifit system cradles the foot perfectly, offering a secure and snug fit. Protection: Mud guard surrounds the base of the shoe with a protective material. How to measure a foot:1.Place a sheet of paper on the floor and against a wall.2. Make sure you are wearing the same socks that you would normally wear with this type of shoe.3.Wearing these socks, stand on the sheet of paper with your foot perpendicular to the wall and your heel against the wall.4.Then use a pen to draw a line just in front of your big toe. Repeat for both feet and take the longer distance to determine your size.5.Using a ruler, measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew to find your size.

Excellent.
These shoes are apparently designed for running but I bought them because I needed lightweight waterproof trainers for summer walking. As with the Salomon brand in general, they are a snug fit, I am a pretty average width size 6 and found the 6.5 fits well with thin socks, so I'd recommend going up at least a half size. They were comfortable straight out of the box, I wore them every day for a week of walking and had no issues at all. Several weeks down the line they appear to be wearing well and are most definitely waterproof, as evidenced many times. They are also terrifically 'grippy' which provides confidence on wet/uneven surfaces. I also love the beetroot colour, although that's a matter of taste. My only minor reservation is the longevity of the lacing system, in that IF they were to break it looks like they'd be difficult to replace, but it remains to be seen if this ever becomes an issue. In summary I am very pleased with these trainers and would highly recommend them.

LOVE THEM!
I’m usually a size 4.5 so I ordered a 5 and they fit perfect.I am a busy dog walker who walks miles and miles every week. I’ve had mine for months now and from the day I got them I’ve worn them to death. They never ever rubbed me and are SO comfortable. The grip is fantastic and they look great on. I love the quick lace idea so I don’t have to faff with laces and they never come loose. My ONLY downside is that they aren’t waterproof (which it doesn’t say they are anyway so I won’t give any less stars). Now the grass is getting wet/dewy I can no longer wear them ( boo hoo)because my feet end up soaked. They will have to come back out next year or on very dry days.

I love the colour - not too flashy
After reading zillions of reviews of all kinds of shoes, I bought this shoe.I will start with the pros:I love the colour - not too flashy..very attractive. I received it on time. I found it snug when I first wore...a bit too snug and tough initially. After 3 days, my feet were very comfortable in these shoes. They fit me like a glove. They are lovely for walking on wet grass or mud.Feel very sturdy. As I have knee issues from a very long time, I needed shoes which will provide me good cushioning, and help with my gait. After 2 months now, my knee has stopped paining. Now the cons:The only downside is that it is tricky to walk with these shoes on wet or snowy roads. Very slippery. I have to buy another pair for wet roads now.Overall, I am quite satisfied with these shoes.

Great for narrow feet, size up half a size
This is my second pair of Salomon Speedcross trail shoes. The first lasted over 4 years of heavy use before the soles fell apart, not bad at all!My first pair were turquoise and had a toggle lace-up, which was so handy. The new ones are black with orange, and have regular laces, which are fine, but the toggle was better. The black and orange look great and they are great for running off-road, and also country walks. With both pairs, i had to size up half a size. Normally I'm a small size 5 but in these I need 5.5, and even these are very narrow. They support my really feet well and I would buy them again.

Out of box comfort and very light - size up though!
These are much lighter and more comfortable than i expected. I bought them for trail walking/hiking but I think I will run in them too. They are a more narrow fit so not suitable for wider feet but this is typical of the brand. Also suggest you size up.

Great
Great trainers , I have them for cycling work in the morning and need a waterproof shoe, they have great grip as well for the peddles , I'm glad I read the reviews and went up half a size , I'm a uk 6 and went 6.5 and they fit great , I've had saloman before and they have always lasted well, I'm hoping these will be as hard wearing , bring on the summer , sick of the rain .

Painful and narrow
I ordered a half size up after returning my usual size for being to small in the length. Walking around the house, they weren’t too bad. I have narrow feet, so these didn’t feel too tight initially. The arch was noticeable and I could feel the string laces digging into my inside arch when I tightened them before running. But loosening them in the middle to end of shoe and tightening around the ankle seemed to help. However, after an easy walk/jog for 3 miles, I literally couldn’t feel my toes and the large toe joint was so sore. I tried loosening during the run many times to no avail. I also have sore ankles and shin splints. I did wear them around my house a bit before going outside, but it wasn’t until around the first half mile that I could tell they weren’t going to be good. I’m so disappointed because I can’t use them or return them now. My recommendation is to avoid these unless you have no toes and foot the width of a pencil.
