Monster High Nefera de Nile Doll

Beautiful doll. My kids love monster high and Nefera is very cool. I wish they had been around when I was little :)

Expensive but lovely

Limited edition doll therefore expensive but when young girls want it you have to make them happy.

This is a gorgeous doll in a beautiful line of toys. Despite the monster theme, Mattel has gone out of their way to produce a line that does not focus on or glorify gore, evil, hate, or violence. It's a gentle and fun-loving line that instead celebrates the power of being unique. Each of these dolls is different from everyone else, which could be used to focus on "freakishness". Instead, the designers celebrate the beauty of individuality, which is PRECISELY what today's young people need (as do those of us who are not so young ). Each character, including Nefera, demonstrates how girls (or boys, for that matter) should embrace who they are - celebrate and embrace your own unique qualities and those of others.Will Nefera's beauty cause young girls to discount their own worth because they don't measure up to some imaginary ideal? No. If a doll somehow triggers feelings of inadequacy in a child, then there are deeper issues at play, and we need to look at the parents, not the toy makers.This doll is striking. The attention to detail is exquisite, as is usually the case in the MH line. Details in the figure itself, the hair, and accessories are fairly astonishing. The shoes alone are brilliant, featuring heels fashioned to resemble rising cobras like a Pharaonic uraeas. Even the tread on the bottom of the shoes carries through the snake theme. Throughout the outfit is a beautiful wrap motif in a striking gold and Nile blue palette.My only negative comment has to do with availability. I wish Mattel would produce more units so more people could enjoy them. At the retail price point there is no question of this doll's value. However, the secondary market has gobbled them up quickly, and getting her can be somewhat costly.MH is destined to become one of those iconic lines that will help the future understand and define our current era and its values. I hope Mattel keeps the school in session for years to come.

This MH doll IS very mature-looking and taller compared to the other dolls. And it is such a great detail, since she is the older sister of Cleo. Nefera is named after Nefertiti, ancient Egyptian King Akhenaten's wife. The name roughly translates to "the beauty has come," which is yet another wonderful detail because this diva doll is indeed beautiful! She takes command of everyone's attention in the MH webisodes, and so does her doll. Her cold expression oozes the "B" word, yet the boys at school would go ga-ga over her, and girls would secretly wish to be her... all the while hating her;)Her outfit is made to look like a mummy's wrappings; Nefera's leg warmers and shirt are printed in this theme. The blues used for her hair, lips and accessories are reflective of the Egyptian-favored stones lapis lazuli and turquoise. Nefera has a pet scarab (which is actually a dung beetle, yuck!), and snake (which is an Egyptian cobra, called the asp, which is venomous~ just like her!) jewelry.As you can see, I absolutely adore these innuendos woven into the design of these dolls. So clever and intriguing. My young daughter merely loves this doll because she can act out such a different personality through her. She also loves how the regular MH girls get comical revenge on Nefera. All of these dolls are great for reinacting the webisodes. I also encourage older girls to study up on the characters and relate the history they infer. Love love love these!
