How Important are Aesthetics to You?
So let's not beat around the bush: This things looks great. Beautifully designed, bold colors, and quality construction. The paint is glossy and perfect, and the pieces all fit together seamlessly. I also love the valve cover, so coffee smoothly trickles down the middle spout, instead of shooting out the sides. One thing to note though is the handle is synthetic, not actual wood. The pictures call it "heat resistant" while never saying what it is, but I can tell you it feels like rubberized plastic. Not in a cheap way, but it is 100% not wood, if that's something that would make you balk at buying this. In my mind what should make most people pause is the price. Now I do not own 20 different moka pots, this is my first, but a very quick search will get you dozens with twice the capacity for half the price. Does this make great coffee? Yes. Do the other ones make a markedly worse cup of coffee? Probably not. I myself being a moka amateur also did not know that 2 cups means 4 ounces, so imagine my surprise when I opened this to find something I could fit in a large pants pocket. This is completely my fault, and is not at all hidden from the product page, but again this speaks to "that's quite a bit of money for something so small." So, should you buy this? If you know moka pots already, you know what you're getting in to, and you want something to display/use to make coffee for others, then sure. If this is your first moka pot, or you only need to make coffee for yourself, then I would turn around and find something else. Does this do anything wrong? No. But I don't think that adding a clear lid that'll just be covered in steam, and painting the your pot 2 different colors justifies tripling the price for most people. 3/5, its not bad, its just excessive.
