Better Sound All Around
Similar to the regular Vic Firth 5A but with a full round tip. They feel well balanced. Making the switch from a teardrop tip stick shouldn't be an issue feel-wise. I think the shoulder is a little thicker - the taper is different than regular 5A's but not by too much. If anything, it's for the better. The tip is a lot like the SD2 Bolero sticks. So I'd imagine these would do well on a concert snare drum. And they would feel thick but not too lightweight or hollow feeling like the Boleros. This round tip creates a noticeably different sound - better focus and clarity on drums and especially on cymbals. If you want a controlled, vintage cymbal sound go for these guys. My 1960's 20" Zildjian ride never sounded better. And my more modern cymbals sing with a little more finesse and nuance. I find that these AS5A's don't break nearly as often as regular 5A's. Maybe that's because of the slightly thicker shoulder. Great for recording! But I use them all the time now. Unfortunately the dingus at the San Diego Guitar Center had never even heard of them. Thanks for the save, Amazon.

My #1 stick choice
These are my #1 choice of stick since I started using them about 2 months ago. True round tip sticks seem increasingly hard to come by and the only others that are close are the Pro Mark TXPR5AW and the Zildjian Travis Barker signatures (the Pro Marks are actually barrel shaped instead of round but Pro Mark still lists them as round). These are fantastic. I use them for my practice pad and when playing on my kit. I must hand it to Vic Firth because I was rather surprised by these especially since I just switched to 5A from 5B. They are pitch matched and well weighted. They've held up very well so far and I'll probably continue to use these for the foreseeable future. I definitely recommend these if you're looking for a good pair of round tip sticks.

Very small tips ..over all great sticks.
I really liked these sticks to start with..then i noticed a crack in tip, after having only 3 days ..normal playing ect..figured maybe just looks weak ,be fine..lil over a month later see photo..worthless to me now..would ruin my heads playing with half a tip.. only used them maybe 6 times..have others i use more often..just over the return date stuck with em i guess..too bad cause overall they where growing on me..just didnt last..possibly stick got by quality control..others may be good..

Modern Classic 5A With A Ball Tip
The sphere-tipped 5A American Sound by Vic Firth has recently become my main practice and studio stick due to being slightly lighter than my standard performance stick (Vater Fusion). Vater Fusion is beefier -- somewhere between a 5A and a 5B. I wanted a Vic Firth 5A but with the great ball tip I became used to on the Vater's. These are just perfect; if you need a perfectly matched pair you might want to visit a retailer.

The Perfect Stick
Best 5A sticks out there, at least that I've come across. Vic Firth 5A's are the close to the perfect stick and the American Sound round tip adds the response and sound that make this a better choice for me than the regular 5A. They all came perfectly matched, identical in weight and very close in pitch.

Calidad excelente
