Great knife!
Bought this khife just before sailing the Sea of Cortez for eight days with a friend who lives in La Paz. We used the knife for everything from cutting fruit, slicing tomatoes, halving lobsters, cutting bread, to cutting fishing bait. A marvelous, very sharp lnife. My friend loved it so much I left it with him on the boat and ordered another as soon as I got home, for my own boat. The price is right also, as I priced numerous knives before buying this one.

Master Baiter
This attractive, brightly colored handled 9 1/8" knife has found a useful spot in my boat or tackle box. The 4 3/8" Titainium coated blade should resist most stains that occur on a boat or dock. The knife came sharp right out of the box but I took it to a scary sharp point. Bucks useual 420 stainless should provide a good compromise between ease of sharpening and edge retention. I found it a smooth cutter with fish, line, and even heavy rope. The brightly colored blue rubber like material has ribs on the bottom that made it both super comfortable to hold while working and absolutly non slip when wet or greasy with fish oils or fat. The spline of the blade has about 2 1/2' of aggressive serration, starting well away from the tip. I found this extreemly useful for rope or the strongest fishing line. I don`t like the useual partially serrated blades that don`t give you enough of either serrations or straight blade. Untill now I`ve been useing my Smith and Wesson double lockback with two different 3" blades. That knife does`t have the length or strength that this Buck Silver Creek does. A stainless guard and a lanyard tied to the butt end complete this versitile, inexpensive fishing knife. I had my doubts when I learned it was " Made in China ", but Buck seems to have good supervision and this knife holds up to my standards and Bucks. At under $20 this is easily less than one third the lowest price i`ve paid for my 5 other Buck knives. So far its meeting up to the standards of my others . To finish it off it comes with a tough textured grey plastic sheath that can be slipped on my belt without taking my belt off. This sheath has several drain holes to prevent moisture retention and aid in drying a knive thats ment to work in wet envirement. An over all winning design in my book and at a super affordable price. I don`t like the fact that our money went to China ( I`ve heard that Buck has closed its China facility due to customer pressure ), but their quality shure is there. Buck let the standards slide on this one
As one reviewer said, "The metal collar surrounding the base of the blade is comprised of cheap metal," -- to say the least! What were they thinking? It's a bait knife and will get wet a lot. Plus, this collar is so ill-manufactured/fitted that it was loose and rattled even as it came out of the box. Shame on Buck for the lack of QC on this. As for the rust, one reviewer complained about, I learned long ago any metal will be affected to some extent by sea water eventually if you don't consistently rinse and protect it somehow. Still, if you can't get the saltwater out of the crappy soft metal loose collar they used, the rust is inevitable.I also agree the plastic holster clip is ill designed to stay on anything. I've owned a number of Bucks, and they were wonderful and practically indestructible, but this is not what I expected from the venerable company. I suppose you get what you pay for today, though, and the knife is not expensive (big surprise, this is from China) but Buck should have done a better job and charged more. Sad to see their standards slide. They say it has a lifetime warranty, and if so, yoweee, something tells me they going to take a hit on this product.

good knife, good value
good quality for the price. I use it for a bait knife on a boat, and it gets used constantly for all kinds of fishing tasks. I rinse it with fresh water after using and occasionally hit it with anti-corrosion spray, and have had no issues with rust at all (this is salt-water fishing, where everything tries to rust). I had one for 2 years, until a friend used it for a pry-bar and broke the blade. I liked it enough that I looked until I found the same knife and bought 2 more.

Ol' Rusty
I purchased this knife about 3 weeks ago and the first time i used it the knife rusted in various places through out the blade and handle. After i was done i used bottled water to clean it and dried it thoroughly. Now that being said it is disappointing but its a bait knife. its extremely sharp and does what it is intended to do. I do plan to take pictures of it and send them to Buck.

Nice bargain knife, sheath needs improvement
I do a bit of sailing/fishing and was looking for a knife that wouldn't degrade sitting in that environment. I've had many stainless steel knives discolor or pit sitting around on a boat. This has lasted well do to the titanium coating and been easy to sharpen. I am disappointed with the sheath. The knife clicks in well so you won't lose it yet is not difficult to draw. It also has excellent drainage, important when using it in a wet environment. The main problem as the other reviewer has said is the belt clip. While you won't lose the knife out of the sheath, you could lose the while setup right off your belt because it's just a clip, and not a very tight one. Its not a deal breaker- it doesn't have to be pretty so I have used first duck tape and now an elastic to make the clip a loop. Otherwise instead of drawing the knife, you can pull the sheath right off your belt.

I Got Slashed On This One
Terrible knife. Tried to sharpen it and big chunks of the edge broke off. Does not sharpen well, the case does not inspire confidence that it will stay on your belt or pants. Lousy steel and design.

wirkt stabil, und macht was es soll
Messer wikr gut verarbeitet, Material wirkt guter Qualität.
