SPICES VILLAGE Shawarma Seasoning Review
Decent spice mix. It's a little on the salty side, but the flavor is pretty good and having all the spices mixed together already makes it really easy to use on your meat of choice. It goes well with chicken and steak, and we even plan in using it as seasoning on some homemade beef jerky. I also really like that it cones in a nice big bag so it should last awhile.

Decent blend of spices, but missing something
When I ordered this product I looked for the ingredient list and it is not in the ad. Upon receiving it I read the ingredient list that is on the package and was a little disappointed - typically shawarma has an earthy, slightly smoky, pungency with an element of sweetness in it (not saying that shawarma is sweet by any means, but you can usually taste a hint of something sweet). Usually that sweetness comes from cinnamon, nutmeg, or cloves. This product actually just lists ‘sugar’. I think that is why the sweetness element seems to be missing, at least for me. The other disappointment is that salt is an ingredient, resulting in 400mg/salt per serving, which is quite high. Salt isn’t normally used in a shawarma blend (although it is sometimes). In any case, this spice blend - which is a decent blend of spices for other things, just doesn’t sit right with me as an authentic shawarma blend. I also miss a tartness that often comes with a shawarma blend (usually from sumac, or something like that). Bottom line is that as a spice blend, which is quite flavorful, I honestly don’t mind this blend at all, but as a shawarma blend it is disappointing to me as it isn;t as complex as flavor as I would normally expect. The packaging is nice - easily resealable bag.

Tasty spice mix
We like to experiment with all different sorts of spice blends in our kitchen. This blend has a really good flavor. It is a little heavy on the turmeric, but we like that. It does have sugar in it, so be aware of that. We have enjoyed using this on chicken and even made some rice with it. We think it has great flavor and would order this again.

Mild, Middle-Eastern Profile, Spice Blend
This Spices Village Shawarma Spice blend is very easy to use. It has all-natural ingredients (turmeric, salt, mustard, cumin, paprika, sugar, black pepper, mace, garlic, and onion) and is packed in the USA. I used it in a recipe for Salmon Shawarma, blending the spice mix with olive oil and lime juice to create a marinade in which I soaked the fish for a couple of hours in the fridge before baking it at 400F for 13 minutes. The aroma of the spice in the bag is very cumin-forward; however, the flavor on the fish was mild and well-balanced. I thought the mace might add some heat, but I didn’t sense any, so I would add some jalapeno powder or cayenne next time for a little something extra. If you don’t like spicy heat, then I think you will be fine with this blend. It would work well on meat as well as fish. It comes in a resealable pouch. I think there is something wrong with the nutrition label, however, as it says a serving size is 14 Tbsp. (8g); 14 Tbsp. would be an insane amount to eat (I used 2 tsp. for .66 lbs. of fish, and it was plenty of coverage). I’m happy to have this as a new way to serve salmon and will use it to experiment with other dishes, and as a base for other seasonings.

Fresh but not my favorite spice mix
The spice mix itself seemed fresh and fragrant. I've ordered from this brand before and haven't been disappointed. This blend however isn't my favorite. It has turmeric as the first ingredient and I felt it was a bit overpowering. It had a bitterness to it and didn't feel as well-balanced. Although I like this brand I don't care for this mix and wouldn't order it again.

spice
I've only had one other shawarma seasoning to compare this to, this one is ground a lot more fine that the other I have which would make it easier to use as a rub. I like to season sandwiches with this stuff and it's about 95% as good as the other far more expensive shawarma seasoning and this one gives you easily 4x as much.

Works for a shawarma blend but salty
This SPICES VILLAGE Shawarma Seasoning [ 4 oz ] packet has good flavor but was a little saltier than I prefer. I added it to some kebabs I was making and it gave a nice taste to the beef.

Yummy
This is a pretty good mix of spices. So great for taking the guess work out of mixing my own. Goes great on chicken.
