It might be a manufacturing problem. If you can take a selfie and see a clear picture them you should be able to take pictures forward. Maybe the camera was dropped and that particular function got disabled. Amazon will gladly help you resolve this situation by replacing your item that all depends how long you bought the camera

The camera shouldn't be doing that. It must be an internal manufacturing problem with the camera. Try replacing the sim card with a new one and see what happens otherwise I recommend returning the camera or asking for a replacement. You can either call or on the website leave a detailed message describing the problems and ask for a replacement or a refund ...either way Amazon is great in the return exchange policy department and you shouldn't have a problem receiving a new camera
