Great little filter for small tanks
I’ve been using this small internal filter for a few weeks in my 5 gallons tank and it does a good job. It’s compact and easy to set up, and doesn’t take up too much space inside my aquarium. The flow is gentle enough for my fishes but still keeps the water moving and super clear. It runs pretty quietly too, which is a big plus, but it is not completely silent either. The only thing to note is that you’ll need to clean the sponge fairly often since it’s small, but that’s expected with a filter this size. Overall, it’s a reliable little filter for small tanks. Great value for money.

We love it
We've had this plugged in for 4 hours and it's waaay better than the original filter that came with our aquarium. We have a 2.5 imagitarium tank from Petco. The original filter didn't really move much water. This one is probably overkill for this size tank but it's awesome and we see a major improvement in overall filtration. We are using the waterfall attachment and we love how it spreads out the bubbles through the entire tank. We can actually see bubbles circulating every sq inch of our tank; again, might be overkill for our size tank, but our tank has never been cleaner. The pump itself is silent, and the waterfall is about 1/8" above the water and it makes just enough noise to be soothing to the ear. It fit perfectly in our small tank. I hope this lasts a long time, but even if it lasts 6 months (which is how long our Petco pump lasted, we'll be pretty satisfied and would purchase again.

Better than expected
I got these to use temporarily in some 5.5 gallon tanks. I was pretty surprised at the amount of flow they have, even placed or the short side of the tank everything has good movement. For as cheap as they are they seem to be well made, and even included an extra impeller, as well as several options for setting up the outlet, I opted for the flow bar. This little unit cleared silt from a new tank quickly, in about 24 hours, and is still running strong and the water is really clear. There is no noise that I can hear, but YMMV because I don't have the best hearing, though definitely quieter than my most silent air pumps. Super easy to install, I haven't tried cleaning the filters yet but the bottom case below the pump comes off and it looks fairly easy. The filters are small, but this whole unit isn't much larger than a small sponge filter, volume wise probably about the same, but with actual flow. I would definitely buy these again if I needed them, and I bought a backup set of filter media for future use since these don't have a permanent home right now. The spray bar can be positioned in any direction, I have it pointed slightly towards the surface to break up any biofilm, if I had floaters I'd have to change that but I'm not growing any in this plant nursery tanks.

A bit too strong but good overall
I’m using these as replacements for the internal filter pump system that came with the Marineland Portrait 5-gallon aquarium- the plastic fittings wore out over time and Marineland doesn’t provide replacements anymore. They’re small enough to fit in the back compartment and the waterfall tube fits through the existing cutout. Not perfect but it works. I took off a star because the flow is too strong - needed to put some phosphate filter material in one of the tubes so the betta didn’t get stressed. The other one is flowing onto a hardscape/plant feature, which is working fine. A word of caution- I removed some of the suction cups from the back of one since I’m not using them, and unfortunately a couple of shrimp climbed into the holes and sadly ended up going through the pump.

Works great!
Works great for my 5 gallon, it is very powerful though so be aware when using for flow sensitive fish. Easy to hookup & has been holding up well. Cleared up tanini water in about a week.

not a long living filter
this is the best filter you will probably get at this price point. that being said—it is still a $10 filter. i got this mostly to disturb the surface of my planted tank to prevent surface biofilm and to add some flow, which it did properly for a few weeks. after week three the motor started to go and there is very little flow from the filter at all. cleaning did not fix the problem, so it’s not a blockage issue. regardless, while it did work it did its job well for how cheap it is

HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE BETTA FISH
This filter was horrible. I have a beta fish living itself in a 5 gallon tank and on the description, and in the review that I said would be fine for a Betta fish. He was getting tossed and turned around, and one of his fence even got caught in the jet that sucks of the dirty water. I would not recommend this item. I received 45 minutes ago I was trying every single placement instead of the bubbler one to make the water calmer nothing worked, and I have a very friendly fish and he’s sort of a strong swimmer I think and he was just getting like it was like hugging at him so I’m returning it and I already placed the order for a new filter

Nice fast working filter
Great filter a bit loud but if you have it close enough to the surface of the water(assuming you use the above water adapter) it’s not to bad

This item motor not working. It useless
I bought this product, but when I used it for the first time, it didn't work. What a waste of money. I wish the seller would give me a replacement. 😢😢

Happy with this filter thus far
Set-up Jan 19th 2026 The canister is easy to take apart and when needed the foam filter can be cleaned easily. The tiny container that holds the 'filter media' is ok for now. The suction cups are strong. The instructions are ok. The sprayer arm is difficult to adjust and took multiple tries to get it where I wanted. It would pop off and go flying. The filtration and water flow seems good, it might create a current that can be a bit strong for some fish, so keep that in mind. Sound is minimal, the sound you can here in my video is from a bubbler in another tank. I have the filter in a 5 gallon bowl that is currently cycling.
