Worth the money in the long run
I spent a lot of time looking into this mask as I wasn’t to sure if it’d be any good.. It sure does feel like it has! I mainly use it while running. It makes what should be an easy 5k run feel more like a 10k. Steep price tag but it’s sure worth it!

Phatom vs Elevation training mask 2.0
I was really excited to get my black mask. But somehow I ended up with the wrong colored one... besides that, the mask is pretty good.Compared to the elevation mask 2.0, the phatom training mask (PTM) has a few distinct differences.1. The way it wraps around the head is so much better than the elevation mask. This is he biggest influential factor preventing me from favoring it over the levation training mask 2.0. It doesnt hurt my ears!2. The mask's material molds around your mouth and nose. It does not provide much suction because of that though. Seen as when I pressed the sides in, only a small portion actually folds because the whole mask covers more area of the face than the elevation mask.In other words, the whole mask caves in as you try to breath really hard. The elevation mask does not. I dont really like this feature of the PTM, because sometimes there is an annoying opening air escapes from that makes it easy to exhale even though you want to make it difficult....you appreciate the thought of an ergonomic mask, but it has its own drawbacks. The elevation mask is solid and does not conform easily, maintaining the vacuum.3. The PTM has 4 levels of difficulty. More info on that in their website ( phantom-trainingmask.com ). Compared to the elevation mask, which has many, the PTM has a very easy and mess free way of switching settings. However, because it is so simple, therebis an extent to which you argue it is effective. In other words, I would say that despite the fuss about making a mess to change settings, the elevation mask 2.0 is better than the PTM. The elevation mask uses an incredibly strong valve system thing (more on that on their website) that is very complex.Dispite this, the PTM is safer to use when doing something that might seem dangerous to keep doing at the same elevation for some time, like running.A good bet would be to buy both and use them accordingly, but thats just me..Ultimately, the PTM is great for beginners who want to begin implementing respiratory resistance to their training. For more of a challenge, the final setting on the elevation mask 2.0 will give you a run for your money. But it is unconfortable. The way it wraps around your head is not painful, but it can begin to hurt your ears (it pulls them down) after several minutes. One thing the PTM does not do tgathat the elevation training mask does is provide resistance when breathing out as well as breathing in. Another reason why the PTM is better suited towards beginners and is conseauently safer to use.

Training is never the same
As an amateur athlete, this has made me conscious about how I breath during exercise and makes you work harder in an area that no one trains as far as I know (intercostal muscles). Quality product, but price is a bit high for what it is. If you want to take training “to the next level”, this is what you need 👍🏽
