Red Hill: The Untold Story of the Whitson Brothers and the Murder of Kit Byrd Paperback – September 5, 2007

I'm a Mitchell County resident and had heard rumors of the things documented in this book, I give my compliment to the authors and their family members who helped to bring so much history to life!

Red Hill is very well written by two faculty at the Univ of Tenn at Chattanooga. I am doing genealogical research into my family. The depth of their searches is amazing. The description of the area and history is very accurate. Very good history review. I highly recommend the book.

Extensively researched and documented, this book is beautifully written by two PhD research scientists about their great, great grandparents. Fascinating read!

A great history lesson that needs to be told. More than just a story this documents life realities faced by mountain people during a difficult time in American history. The availability of the book via Amazon will make it more readily available to the public.

So much of this history is untold. Future generations may learn why they are McInturff's and not actually Whitsons. Very interesting perspectives of the Democratic and Republican history. People should read this book to learn the true history.
