Reliable Mini Chainsaw for Overlanding, Camping, and Home Use
Expectations I was looking for a compact, cordless chainsaw to take on overlanding trips and camping adventures, primarily for clearing trails and cutting firewood. Durability, portability, and easy operation were key expectations. I also anticipated using it for small jobs around the house. Performance Evaluation Since purchasing in December 2024, this chainsaw has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. It’s powerful enough to handle trail clearing and campfire wood prep, and its lightweight design makes it easy to carry in a vehicle or storage case. The dual 3.0Ah batteries provide lasting power across multiple jobs, and the brushless motor offers efficient cutting with minimal vibration. Pros - Impressive cutting capability for a cordless mini chainsaw - Lightweight and portable; easy to pack for overlanding and camping - Dual batteries deliver good runtime - Brushless motor ensures smooth operation - Handy storage case included Cons - Noticeable oil leakage from the auto oiler system; not sure if it’s user error or a design issue - Requires regular oil level checks and cleanup after use Comparison to Product Description The product matches its advertised benefits for portability, power, and battery life. The only downside not highlighted is the oil leakage, which may be a quirk of the auto oiler or require further adjustment. Otherwise, the description aligns well with actual use. Actionable Takeaways - Great choice for anyone needing an easy-to-carry chainsaw for outdoor activities or light home use - Be prepared to monitor oil levels and address any leakage—consider storing the saw in a way that contains drips Final Thoughts Overall, this mini chainsaw works as promised and has become a valuable part of my overlanding and home toolkit. Other than the oil issue, I’m very satisfied with its power and convenience. Recommended for anyone seeking versatility and ease of use in a cordless chain saw.

I LOVE this chainsaw!
I have four groups of pygmy palms in my yard that are over 20 years old and have never had their trunks trimmed other than me pruning off dead palm fronds. I also have a large Mesquite tree that a landscaper quoted $400 to trim off the lower branches. I have been looking for a chainsaw that would let me do this work myself since I like working in the yard and saving money. I’m a 68 year old woman with no experience with this type of tool so I did my research. This Imoum Live 6” chainsaw is a perfect fit. It’s lightweight and EASY to hold and handle. The safety features gave me confidence and after a few minutes I got the hang of it. This tool easily cut through the very hard spines left from the pruning. The kit came with 2 batteries. A MAJOR plus so you can switch out a dead battery for a new one when you’re on a roll and want to keep working. After a little over an hour of working, the battery still had more than 3/4th charge left and I only quit because it was getting dark. I still need to do some finishing work on the trunks so I can shave them later plus tackle the remaining 3 groups of palms I have left then will trim up the mesquite tree. You can buy the extension pole for this chainsaw that I definitely will be buying for the taller limbs. Having the second battery charged and ready will insure I can work as long as I want. The enclosed instructions are pretty good and I read up on everything before I used it because I’m a novice. The chain came loose at the end and the tightener knob wasn’t working. The chain had come off the quide. It took me forever to figure out that I needed to completely unscrew the tightener knob in order to remove the cover plate because the instructions didn’t say to “turn counter clockwise to Remove the tightener/screw” only “turn counterclockwise.” Since this functions as the chain tightener (clockwise turn) it didn’t occur to me that I needed to keep turning it counterclockwise past the tight resistance (I didn’t know if I would break something). But once the cover was off, it was easy to reset the chain which had come off due to the wood debris that had collected under the plate but out of sight. The kit comes with a brush for cleaning and I recommend having a pair of needle nose pliers handy while using the chainsaw so you can remove small debris that you can see that collects right under the chain above the hand grip. The small design of this tool is perfect for any yard trimming of cactus, tree limbs, rose bushes, etc. It’s a real value price-wise as well. Can’t recommend it enough!

Great for what it is...
Came with 2 chains. So the brushless motor and motor speed is what is different on this model, this will cut stuff you simply wont think it will cut in seconds. Like almost as quick as my real chainsaws. For 1 inch to 4-5 inch branches this thing will plow through it, possibly even 6 inch if you are just in a pinch. No more grabbing the chainsaw for small cuts, that always bugged me, now grab this and go. It come with chain tight, make darn sure you loosen it, it should have a little slop in it just like a chain saw. This is really for a 1/2 hour use tops, but you can do a lot of damage in this 1/2 hour, it is very capable I am impressed. good purchase, great tool for what it is.

Good Low Price Starter Unit
I bought this to see if a one-hand compact battery pruning saw would be a good addition, but did not want to spend a lot as a test run. This unit was about the least expensive I could find. Not a lot of time on it, but I was happily surprised that it works so well. Battery supplied cuts a long time, and saw has good power, easy to hold and control. The chain tensioner mechanism is hard to tune in, so I need to leave it a bit loose to prevent binding, and the manual chain oil set up doesn’t do a great job getting oil on the chain, but for the price and light use, and considering the price, I’m ok with it. Would not recommend for regular or heavy use.

Such a handy cutting tool... great for pruning and small trees.
Functionality: Typically, I don't care for devices like this that run on batteries, but I totally love this product. Plenty of power, lightweight, comfortable to wield, and cuts plenty on a single charge. 2nd battery will fully charge while you are using the other. Also love that this comes with 2 chains AND a sharpener! Everything fits nicely in the carrying case as well. I highly recommend this product. I've been using this for a few weeks to clear brush and trees growing close to chain-link fencing. Works perfectly.

A real cutup.....
My wife's for trimming and gardening. It is manageable and durable for her and VERY useful to every task she wants to do. She has used it for hours without a hiccup. She has tackled some big jobs without hesitation and the maintenance is easy. She has taken down some 6"-7" limbs quickly. Impressive

Avoid purchase until they fix this feature - Updated
Purchased this unit and went to work right away... its great.. Easy to use, good control with 1 hand safely. Ran into a heating issue when cutting up a stack of hard wood branches (1-4" diameter) as the six inch bar and chain can not dissipate the heat that well. Just modify activity to prevent overheating the chain and bar. Here is the issue... the chain will slack and you have to adjust it. This is done with a bizarre and, in my opinion, idiotic way that uses two small springs and a series of interlocking plates all held together with one small screw into the plastic body. How many times will you be able to adjust the screw with the plastic holding its threads? How quickly will these two week as hell springs get lost or deform? This needs to be re-designed with a set screw that is in metal, not the plastic body, and accessible once the cover is taken off. A properly tensioned chain is critical to the safe operation of a chain saw. Its a sub $100 tool and it shows it in the serious lack of design on this critical component. I would look elsewhere and look closely at the competitors for the same design flaw. Edit: I have 20 seasons cutting firewood in the Sierras with gas saws and blades 18" up to 48". There are two issues a chainsaw requires - sharp teeth and proper tension on the chain at all times. This is the first time I've seen a chainsaw have the tension dynamically controlled by a spring. The teeth on the chain will dull with usage. This will cause the chain to travel slower through the wood and if there is bark, then it will be of different densities which can cause a dull chain to grab and bind. If the chain has any ability to go slack, it will and will come off the main sprocket or out of the channel of the bar. This is why I dislike the spring driven tension design. However, I have obviously exceeded the design specifications for the tool ... as a weekend trimmer of branches or light duty tool for managing a branch pile, it is a great tool and very functional. Keep the teeth sharp (would recommend getting a real file not the one supplied) and the saw will be one of your best tools in my opinion.
