Q: How many watts does it have?

Amazon says 450 watt, black and decker website says 475 watt. Either way, I have one and it works terrific, shreds carrots and cabbage like you wouldn't believe, I am very happy with this product

Q: Is the center post suppose to lock into the base of the unit?

No, it does not "lock" but is held down securely once you place the processor bowl on top then place the blade over the post.

Q: are there replacement parts for this machine ? The botton of the 'bowl' cracked and will no longer work.

I got the silver disk replaced and the company sent it to me under the warranty since it got broken before the 1year period. I guess they have replacements for other parts.

Q: how do I find the directions to use?

The processor should have come with a foldout booklet describing briefly its functions. For further information, go to youtube.com and type in the search: Black & Decker FP1140BD. There is a 5 minute video showing you all that it can do.
