Review: I chose it because I knew it was one of the saltiest seaweed. - I've been eating Eden Foods wakame for decades. Once in awhile you get some that isn't the best tasting. Most of the time it perfectly fine. I've had packages hanging around for two to five years before I consumed it. Due to the fact that I accidentally misplaced it. I can finish a 2 ounce bag in 3 to 4 weeks. Obviously it depends on your diet and what you generally eat as what you should or shouldn't do. I chew it cuz I feel that it's very good for my teeth. The first 3 to 8 days it could take a little getting used to. So you have a bite and you nibble it or you put it in some food. It's simply a very high quality source of mineral salts. You're simply trying to keep your body a little more alkaline then acidic. The product comes from the northern Seas of Japan and they test it just to make sure that there's no radiation getting to it from the nuclear power plants that had a significant problem several years back. My only complaint is I used to be able to buy it in a 2 lb 2 ounce bag. Unfortunately the bulk size packages are no longer available as far as I know. And the cost has doubled from the time I first started buying it. Part of it was due to the fact of the nuclear plants having a problem in Japan and the added testing per batch. At least we know we're not being radiated with a smile. PS. Once you open a package make sure you store it in a ziplock bag. "In fact if I wasn't consuming it reasonably quickly I would double ziplock bag it. It'll absorb anyting smelly in the neighborhood of the product that happens to be open. For instance if you take a piece and stick it in one of your drawers and there happens to be something there like a bar of soap it'll absorb the taste of the soap even if it never touches it. I suspect that's one of the potential benefits of the product when you eat seaweed it's probably absorbing some of the garbage that we shouldn't be consuming as it passes through your body. Yes if it's not in a sealed package it is possible for it to become somewhat moldy. That's why I mentioned you should stick it as a zip locked bag. If there's any chance of the package sitting around for an extended period of time or might have a pin hole or tear in packaging.
Review: Tastes great and useful size pieces. - I like that I don't have to break chunks off of a single giant piece like in most packages of kombu.
