Steens Richmond 3 Door Wardrobe, Cream & Pine

The construction of this wardrobe should only be attempted by people who are not likely to kill each other in the process.This is a very smart looking product although a bit flimsy, but it was very inexpensive so I wasn't concerned with that.If you are a methodical and neat person you should have no trouble putting it together.Do not attempt it if you expect it to be as simple as an IKEA kit, because it isn't. But it looks a lot more furniture like.I would suggest that all the screws and components are counted out into little pots (I used ramekins) and numbered with the number of the appropriate part ( I used page markers), the day before construction starts.Stick rigidly to the order of the pictures in the booklet, and you should be OK.Finally, if you can survive this as a couple, you really are in love.

I have put together various brands of flat pack furniture before and can say this is the worst by far. Poor quality pine with very thin MDF. Parts not labelled, and instructions very poor. Construction was so poor I had to purchase extra brackets to make more sturdy. Packaging also poor, and arrived with a damaged corner. I was going to send back, but unable to unwrap without destroying the carton and as it was going to be placed in a corner of the room and the damaged corner was at the back I thought it would be ok. My advise would be to pass this one by and avoid.

Although it seemed flimsy when first put together, once in situ and filled, perfectly sturdy!

Wonderful piece of furniture. Reasonably easy to assemble too.

The wardrobe looks good now it's up but it was a nightmare. The parts arrived in packaging that we were warned not to damage in case we needed to return the goods; it wasn't possible to get the stuff out without ripping the packaging. Then we found no instructions, so contacted the seller and instructions arrived via email the next day. However, none of the parts matched the instructions, so we again contacted them. This time they sent the correct instructions. Construction was awful! None of the furniture parts were labelled and the instructions appeared to be for two different products, though this wasn't made clear, so we wasted a lot of time looking for parts that weren't there. We followed the instructions PRECISELY - you spend a lot of time putting fixings in and then all the pieces slot onto them. But some of the fixings were in the wrong place because the instructions were wrong. Five hours after starting it was complete. The other reviewer who said this is a test of your marriage, I wholeheartedly agree.

This wardrobe was very disappointing for the money, flimsy thin wood causing screws to come through the other side. The assembly instructions were confusing and complicated, would cause a headache for someone not familiar with assembling this type of furniture. I would not recommend this wardrobe.

Lovely looking wardrobe. Two people job in putting together. Looks more expensive than it was. We have bought the Steens range inthis colour and its really looks good.
