Very useful when the hood shocks don’t work

This works great. I use it all the time.

I have hood piston problems and they're not easy to change and also not expensive. This also works with hatchbacks and trunk lids. I do not see the need for a green tape to remind you to remove it as you will not be able to close the hood or trunk or hatchback until you remove it. This is small, easier to use and cheaper to use than a Lisle Hood Prop +$30 or higher and the small rubber tip on Lisle's Hood Prop is deigned to fail (a poor design. It will last for a while but this item is under $10 and fits in your console to use to check oil or add washer solution or check trans oil in park and engine running. Does not get dirty as its only on the piston hold open devices which have always had a quality problem ever since the companies introduced them. This should be kept in every car you own. I have been hit many times in my head by a falling hood so I needed this. Eventually you will have the piston hood openers fail and this is the solution. On and off in seconds.

This is a MUCH stronger, solid component then it looks on screen. It's size and overall construction make it a top quality unit, but it's not too bulky or heavy to get in the way. It's just right for the intended purpose - to hold up weak shock absorber helper lifts.I use mine to help hold up weak hood lifts on my '03 Dodge Ram which has a very heavy, over-sized hood. It uses two very small shock absorber helper lifts that will "barely" keep the hood lifted at its highest point. If there's any breeze or decline then the hood won't stay up without the support clamp.The cost for this simple clamp is a lot less then a new shock absorber. I priced one for my son's jeep rear window a few years back and it was outrageously expensive. I forget the actual cost, but it was way more then we were willing to pay. He used a long stick for many years to hold it up instead.I wish we had tripped across one of these clamps back then. Oh well, live and DISCOVER...!?!The clamp is easy to use by a single person and comes with a bright warning ribbon which can be used to remind you that the clamp is attached - if you choose to use it.

Works as it should, get it tight tho cause it will slip

It works, I keep it in my glove compartment and bring it out when I need it. For $10, it's cheap, made well and easy to use. Unfortunately you cannot keep it on the lift when the hood is closed, there is a model for sale on Amazon that does have that option, but it's $50.

Good quality and nice price for an item every home mechanic should have handy. I bought for the hood of my car with blown hood prop cylinders, the pistons have no hydraulic charge left so I either had to prop up hood with a broom or hold up with one hand and try and poke around under the hood - got sick of doing that and worrying about losing my fingers. An old mechanic showed me this little gadget and I started the hunt, found it easily on amazon.Simple to use, just put on the hood prop right above the cylinder and spin the easy to use tightener. That's it. No fuss and no brains required. It holds firm, I pulled down on hood with my body weight, no movement at all. When done, just hold up hood with one hand, loosen the clamp and close the hood like normal.Great tool to have in case you have a heavy hood with suspect hydraulic props, no fear.

Had bad struts on my truck. Used this to replace them. Worked well and didnt scratch the pistons. Would recommend.
