FYI - no need to scrape the black off. **Q: Does it come with1 or 2 pack?** A: It comes with one fire starter in a pack **Q: I have to use matches to light my propane tank. Will this spark likely be enough to ignite propane gas?** A: Personally, I don't know why you want to light your propane tank. I light my propane stove and water heater using a Kingsford refillable barbecue lighter. Works great. And, for your edification, the spark from a empty barbecue lighter or an empty Bic lighter will ignite the propane coming out of your furnace pilot as well as your stove. You don't need a flame to ignite propane gas. Just a simple spark will do. Ferro Rods are best at igniting tender in an emergency situation of which you'll probable never be in.
