We have 2 rabbits and they LOVE this hay. I had not bought Timothy for a while due to allergies but one rabbit is having digestive issues so I decided to retry. No sneezing with this cut! Its fresh and has nice long green strands which they love. This is my second purchase of this brand and the quality is consistent. Highly recommend. Very low dust if any. The box is packed full too. Nice hay.

Edit: contacted small pet directly and they shipped me a new box immediately. After reading a new review about Amazon and this hay, (not good) I'll be ordering directly from small pet select.This box of hay was dried out and scraps vs moist and nice pieces.... of all the boxes we have gotten, this one seems like it was forgotten in a corner then found and sent out.

I rescued 4 guinea pigs from a young family who no longer had the time to take care of them. They are precious and very easy to take care of. They have to have hay for their digestion so I found this Timothy hay on amazon and it's perfect. They love it and the price is right for how much you receive. I highly recommend this product. I don't own it, neither do I want to own a hay farm, but if you have guinea pigs, please consider buying this for them. They need hay for their health.

Mostly green, not too many brown pieces . On my 3rd 12 pound box, and My rabbit loves this hay! I would recommend.

I like the giant size. Came late which I wasn't happy with. Nothing broken, it smells good and no bugs.Con: it's messy, and it came brown. Some of the pieces weren't good at all and because it's too big I can't just carry it to there hay dispenser. I have to put in a bag and then carry it. I would have been much more happy at 2 6lbs rather than 1 12 lbs. So, for that reason 3 stars.The pros: economically friendly. They OHCOOL hay that they like is a splurge. It's not cheap. So, they need another brand. While I have that one on a monthly subscription I am still looking for a cheaper alternative. They didn't like the Kaytee one.I am not sure if they like this, yet. but this one will not be a monthly subscription just bc of the cons.Will comment further on if I notice that they like it. I just received a few days ago.Update Friday Oct 25th. I have had this for awhile. It seems well received by all my bunnies including the new 1 I got on Sept 13th. Once it was half way down I put the left over Kaytee brand that they don't like and I mixed it in and they didn't seem to notice.Once done, it's about a quarter and I mixed there new Oxbow hay. Bc of the high calorie, so they have a mix. I will continue to buy this and just mix hay in. So, if I buy the Kaytee brand it should go unnoticed. They still pick and choose but not as bad as bf. I also upped my review to 4 stars bc they were able to eat the Kaytee brand.I did buy a new shelving unit for this product only, ugh. That's okay, it fits nicer andi transfered some of they hay into bags

Hi small pet owners! I typically do not write reviews but I feel like I had to this time in hopes of helping someone out. I have been ordering this hay more consistently since October 2024. I have gone through a few 10 pound boxes and I have noticed the quality of hay diminishing. It’s very hard, brown, dusty and smells “old” if that makes sense. I have kept ordering it because I believe in Small Pet Select and I love what they stand for. Plus, my guinea pig in the past loved their hay and my bunny seems to have enjoyed the first box. The most recent box I have (see pictures) has so much brown, old, stale hay. But I thought it just came like that, UNTIL I found out that there is a major difference from ordering through Amazon compared to ordering from Small Pet Select DIRECTLY (see pictures). I am pet sitting for my brother and I noticed that his box of hay barley has any brown and it’s so lush, green and sweet smelling. That’s when he told me that he orders directly from Small Pet Select instead of Amazon. I WAS FLOORED and also extremly disappointed in this multi billion dollar company. Our pets deserve the best and if Amazon cannot provide their customers with the same quality as the original retailer then there’s a problem.If you made it this far then I hope you will join me in no longer ordering hay through Amazon and instead order directly from the source, in this case, Small Pet Select. It may be more expensive but the quality is worth it. Please, take it from someone that has made the mistakes so you wouldn’t have to. The hay is handpicked very fresh, my guinea pigs love it! And they even put a photo postcard in it and from who packed it! You know that this family company takes pride in their business. They care.

I’m a Cowgirl who buys bales of hay for my horses and know quality hay. Guinea Pigs like Timothy over Alfalfa, which is already in their pellet fed anyway. Small Pet Select is 2nd cut quality Timothy. 2nd cut has more protein. It’s best for their dental health. 2nd cut has softer stems and more leaves. It’s deeper in color and has more micronutrients. A bonus for someone sensitive to hay because you’re not exposed to the pollen of first cut hay.I have used Small Pet Select for 3 years now. My four Guinea Pigs love it. I will put a big mound in their habitat and they actually like to crawl in and eat. I have this on re-order. The packaging is great. Always arrives dry. Always fresh. And the hay is compressed just enough that you are getting a bunch for your buck.
