Criticism first - they should be 'annular'. Praise second - they hold up timber laths very well. If you fire one in, and then try to pull it out, it will move. If you leave it for the wood to settle down, they will still be in there whilst the wood will be destroyed. A lath and plaster ceiling is a weighty thing...
