Good Value replacement for Maco Lock
good price compared to others and genuine Maco locks. fitted perfectly and working well still after a fair few months of being installed. no signs of wear and tear yet.

Great replacement for my old one
The product comes bare, no instructions or screws, so make sure you don’t throw the old screws away.Slightly fiddly to install but overall ok.The first thing you should do is to check the latch position. Depending on whether your door opens left or right, use the latch reversal button to choose the correct latch position before you install it, otherwise you’ll end up making the same mistake as me. Installed then realised the latch was facing the wrong way, then had to dismantle the door mechanism to change the latch position then re-install. A lot of frustration and swearing but I only got myself to blame 🤣Other than that the mechanism is slightly stiff but I’m sure it will improve with time and constant use.

Feels cheap, movement is not smooth, will fail
Ideal as a temporary repair but don't expect it to last. Cheap.First one I bought lasted 4 months, failed suddenly on a Friday night. Handle would not lift far enough to engage the locking mechanism. At 9pm on a Friday night you don't have many options so secured the door best I could and ordered a replacement from Amazon as it would at least arrive next day. Thinking it would at least allow me a couple of months to organise a proper replacement gearbox or entire assembly.Unfortunately the replacement gearbox lasted all of 4 days. Same issue again. Handle will not lift sufficiently so the lock will engage, leaving the door insecure (at least it hasn't broken when the door is locked). Both times it will not do it even when the door is wide open so you know it isn't a cam/hook/roller catching/failed. Detaching the gearbox and trying to operate it in your hands, lift the handle and it still jams and won't engage the lock mechanism properly.A copious spraying of a silicone lubricant may buy you a couple of lock operations but it is risky.Mechanism on these gearboxes feels clicky/notchy, not a smooth movement in it.I eventually managed to source a replacement original Maco old style gearbox from an online retailer, with next day delivery, you can tell the difference in quality both in appearance and how it operates immediately before it's even fitted. You are probably going to pay 4x the price but it is worth it for reliability and cheaper than the risk of calling a locksmith to replace this piece of garbage if it fails when locked.

Ensure its the right one, check the identification number.
I realised that there was a fault with my double glazed front door multi point locking handle, when the handle lost its spring back capability.By removing the handle, the Euro lock and the multi point lock mechanism top section and catch assembly, which had about ten screws holding them to the door to identify the exact replacement by ref number and dimensions, having noted those it was just a matter of viewing them on line to find the correct item.replacing it was easy as I new how to take it out, Total time to replace 20 minutes. Now working properly.

Suitable replacement - but only just
Fits exactly but, as others have commented, once fitted the lock operation is quite stiff. This feels like a mediocre quality product that is built down to a low price. I would prefer to pay a little more for a better quality product. That said, neither lock (of two purchased and installed) has failed after nine months, although they are not in frequent use, hence still three stars.

Can be converted to other older style Maco gearboxes.
My faulty Maco gearbox looked identical except for it did not have the deadbolt.I took a chance, obtained one of these and removed the deadbolt which was quite simple. I also had to swap over the latch (mine was a bit smaller) but that was 5 secs to do (the latch reversal button means it comes easily out.It now is fitted and working perfectly. I'm well happy since everywhere was telling me to change the whole mechanism which would have been a load of hassle.

2 parts same number!
This is the old style maco door mechanism. They made a newer style but didn't change the part number! The detail of this part shows dimensions, the other part bought elswhere is a different end to end length! This, my second purchase was the correct 1 for me. It was not easy to fit. First you have to change the latch direction before you fit to the rest of the door mechanism, or take it apart again as we did. Then you have to fit to the whole door side mechanism, having removed from the door, no special tool but fiddley, oily with sharp edges. You have to remove the handle and barrel, also fiddly, before you can get the door mechanism off. The door mechanism is about 5 foot long. Once in ours was jammed so key wouldn't turn. Think just to a knock in transit due to rubbish paper bag only package, but took lots of fiddling to understand enough to free the jam. All in couple of stressful hours to get fitted but def cheaper than a locksmith.
