i.Beat move? More like 'i.Beat don't move'
Purchased mainly due to Bluetooth functionality, with the intention to use on a pair of Bluetooth headphones for gym and running. The product description and marketing material make you believe the product is capable of fulfilling this purpose. For example, 'Enjoy the integrated Bluetooth function of the i.Beat move BT, as it allows you can use your MP3-Player on the go without getting tangled in any long, annoying cables.'So, first of all - the Bluetooth functionality does work. However, here is the (apparently) German definition of that word. In order to use Bluetooth headphones (or any device), you can't just switch Bluetooth on (like you would on your phone), pair the device, and then go to main menu. You have to go into a separate menu called 'Bluetooth mode'. Pairing with another device was no problem. Here is the biggest issue, though. If you so much as attempt to move the player even ever so slightly - it skips.Put it in your trouser pocket - disconnected. The only use I found for this is laying still on my bed, with the player laying 30 cm from my face on the table. Dancing, gym, running, even walking - a big nope. I tested those same headphones with my phone during a 30 min. run - still skipped a tiny bit here and there, but that's more a shortfall of the technology, rather than the product. In addition to that, there is a really cheap feel to the navigation buttons, and some questionable design decisions. There are no dedicated volume control buttons (visible from product photos). In order to adjust the volume, you have to hold the back button, and then use Prev/Next buttons to regulate it. Good luck trying to do that by feel in your pocket while running. On the back, it says 'Designed in Germany. Made in China.' The next iteration of this product should either undergo some drastic changes to live up to that statement, or have it changed to 'Marketed and Distributed by Germany. Made in China. Design? Was ist das?'
