Really nice carving set for the money. Bought as a gift for a family Christmas gathering white elephant. These were quite popular and changed hands several times.

What I expected.

Need to be careful using it! Easy to cut yourself. The set is beautiful and carved the Turkey the ham like butter.

I've always loved the allure of the grocery store rotisserie chicken, but hated the process of tearing that sucker apart to eat. This set includes a knife and prong to help hold your meat in place to cut that bird into the various segments you want it in. Knife is sufficiently sharp for such purposes, and so far with the prong I have yet to lop off any fingers or accidentally send my chicken hurtling off the counter, so I count it as a win.

If you're buying this as a gift, rest assured this comes in a beautiful box with a magnetic lid, it just looks beautiful. But this knife is so much more than looks. First, it has a great heft to it--it feels solid, the curved handle sits really nicely in the hand. This is a really nice quality blade as well--it comes sharp out of the box, always welcome, but as a forged blade, you can have it sharpened for the life of the blade. There is a strong bolster to help protect your fingers, and the full length tang means you have a consistent piece of metal providing the 'oomph' you need when cutting.There are three rivets, they felt smooth and were locked in place. Really, everything about this blade just WORKS. The included fork means you can secure the meat and slice right through. Even if you choose not to use this as a carver, it is really an excellent overall mid-size kitchen knife, appropriate for a variety of work. I was very impressed by the quality and feel, and that's really what makes this an easy pick. Absolutely one of my favorite kitchen knives.

I ordered this set for our son who is at that stage where he is beginning his own family and finding out how handy things like this are. I have had lots of knives over my life and continue to have an extensive collection for various purposes, so I know what to look for and what to avoid. I have to say that overall, I am very pleased with the quality of both the knife and fork from this set. The knife is well made and feels very good in your hand with a decent of heft and a full tang. This will make the knife durable and also better to hang onto while cutting. The fork is pretty much what you would expect, it's not cheaply made or feeling, it's also actually very comfortable in the hand as well. Overall, I would say that this is a pretty good deal at this price point, and I think its safe to recommend it to anyone who may be looking at it right now. Now time will tell as to how well it holds its edge and how easy it is to sharpen so if either of those comes into play, I will be sure to come back on and update my review.
