A Child Is Born

I can only find this book on Amazon used as it is over 30 years old! That is a picture of me and my late husband on the inside of the cover. Me the pregnant one :) It's on Maui where I grew up. Lots of amazing memories on that beach! And I have given this book away to many people in my life when they start having families. Im sure one day this book will be impossible to find!

Very cool book, full of detailed pictures.I believe it is a much condensed version of the original work, except in the area of pictures. There’s many of those and, unlike some other reviews mention, none of them are inappropriate for kids.

I grew up with my mom owning this book and I thought it was so fascinating as a kid. Now that I’m pregnant with my own it’s so amazing being able to have my own copy. This book is so great and so informative. The pictures are amazing too. The book came to me in great quality and I’m glad the new edition wasn’t too different from the one I knew as a kid.

Very well done, presents an important subject authoritatively. Well illustrated. Purchased for my grandchildren.

Rather disappointed. I was expecting and older version that my mom used to show us kids as we were waiting for the newest sibling to be born. Still looking for that one, this one has too many adult pics to let children look through. The older one was mostly just pics of the baby inside the womb.

Book look used

This is the book you remember perusing as a child with utter fascination. It was the first time in utero photos were published for the lay person to see. Observe the developing fetus from about four months on. Prior to that, there are drawings and text explaining everything taking place within the pregnant woman. It was great to find tis book. For me, it was doubly special:It was one of the books that helped influence me to become a nurse.

Such a beautiful book of pictures of a child from conception to birth. I purchased it for my granddaughter who wants to be an OB doctor and I know she will be thrilled with it. I had a copy of the first time it was published and it has been improved over the years. Well worth the purchase.

The main reason I bought this book was for the developmental photos from pre-conception to birth. The photos included are astonishing, and I reflected on the book frequently during my last pregnancy. Somehow, knowing what was happening in there made it more real and reminded me how much of a miracle life is.What I wasn't expecting, was an in-depth explanation of how fertilisation, implantation, and growth occur in the very early stages of pregnancy. It went into far more detail than anything I've ever read before, and was a fascinating insight into pregnancy.

I bought this as a birthday present for my wife after she was wowed by some of Nilsson's images she saw on Facebook. The pictures in this book are out of this world and the accompanying text explains everything in great detail. It would be great to use during a pregnancy as well as it is real life. A must for anyone's bookshelf.

Said it was good- arrived with back cover and some pages folded over. Not what I think of as good!

2nd hand book purchased received in an excellent condition. Book as described full of incredible pictures and very useful information.
