This is the real deal
I purchased this kit intending to use this controller with Windows, a real NES, and a real SNES. Everything worked flawlessly in Windows and RetroArch. I don't have the SNES set up right now, but I was able to score the 8bitdo NES adapters dirt cheap at a local store, so I put it to the Contra test on real hardware. I'm no expert but I did grow up playing these games, and after what might be my best "just screwing around" Contra run ever, I'm sold. This feels extremely close to the original SNES controller. The buttons are clicky and responsive and it's very comfortable to hold. As others have mentioned, the D-Pad is extremely sensitive, but it's really not that bad. It may be entirely a matter of personal preference but I actually really like the d-pad on this guy, because it IS very sensitive and accurate. I found myself surprised more than once during my test Contra play at some of the things I was able to survive with extremely subtle inputs.Anyway, I liked it so much that immediately after I finished the game I ordered a second one.If you need a controller for retro emulation, or if you need a replacement controller for your NES or SNES, get this (and the NES receiver). The SNES control pad is probably the greatest 2d control pad ever (yes Saturn is close), and this is hands down not only the best 3rd party console controller I've ever used, but it might be as good as the original - for me, I think it is.Both the controller and SNES adapter came out of the box with the latest firmware, but be sure to check and update to the latest if necessary when you first get it.

SF style is AWESOME!
My Super Famicom "SF" style looks GREAT. People are disappointed with the look of the "transparent" style because the production version looks different from pre-production renderings. That's no concern at all for the other color schemes (SF, black, classic). EDIT: The transparent controller has disappeared today (2/2), along with its reviews. I believe all 3 remaining reviews are for the SF (Super Famicom style) color, which owners are very pleased with.Overall feel is amazing. Very satisfied. This is definitely consistent with the quality feel of original Nintendo controllers. Second/third parties back in the day could never come close to matching that first-party controller quality, but 8bitdo always gets this right.Like most 8bitdo controllers, pairing with different devices can be tricky. That's a consequence of being compatible with so many different devices and receivers. Also the classic design is not spoiled with an on/off or pairing button. A pairing guide might help. The D-pad is perhaps a bit too sensitive. I have the same problem with an SNES Asciipad and with the controllers Nintendo makes for the new "classic edition" systems. Trying to make rapid up/down/left/right movements in Tetris Attack or Panel de Pon usually results in accidental diagonals and my cursor doesn't end up precisely where I want it. I can adjust to the D-pad with some practice and avoid accidentally triggering diagonals so often. It's the same issue I have with most controllers that are still considered to be excellent quality.

High Quality Controller, 1 Issue that can be addressed.
The controller is High Quality, the plastic is nice, the shape is the same as the SNES, the buttons feel good. I haven't experienced any noticeable lag. In my unofficial testing I just play the same games with a OEM controller and then this controller and I can't tell a difference, even in twitch based games. I am sure with some official testing there may be a frame of delay, but nothing that affected gameplay in any way. I am very picky about any lag, I don't use emulation because of it and I buy new TV's that have been tested to have very low lag.My only issue is the D-Pad is very sensitive and triggers diagonals super easy. I was playing Super Mario Bros. 2 (Super Mario All Stars version) and everything was great until the end of the game. Before getting to the final boss you have to climb a bunch of ladders, jumping from ladder to ladder. Every-time I would jump to a ladder and start climbing I would fall off to one side or the other after a second of climbing. I tried really hard to make sure I was only pushing up after the jump but I still couldn't get up the ladders. I plugged in a OEM controller and went right up with no issues. The Fix: After some research I found out the problem could be mostly fixed by using hole reinforces on the PCB. Google it there are plenty of tutorials on it. It's a bit of a pain to have to do that on a new product. After I went though some of the tutorials I can now climb the ladders no problem, it's still a little more sensitive but doesn't bother me anymore. I could probably tweak it more if I wanted. Conclusion: Even with the one D-Pad issue I have never used a 3rd Party controller that is this high quality look and feel. The no lag and wireless freedom are just great, it really feels just like a SNES controller. If the D-Pad was addressed out of the gate this would be the easiest 5 stars I could give. Even with that issue I still think it's worth it because the fix is so easy, and the rest of the controller is so far ahead on any other 3rd party option.Keep in mind though these controllers use bluetooth. If you are in an environment with lots of wireless signals you may have a different experience than me with lag.Fun note: The buttons from OEM controllers can be swapped in. I like the dark gray controller but I swapped in the SNES purple buttons. I prefer the concave X and Y buttons.

Perfecto

Great Controller!
Great controller! If I close my eyes it feels identical to my OEM Super NES controller other than the orientation of the Start & Select buttons. No noticeable input lag either. This is as close as it gets to a 1st party Nintendo Super NES controller in 2020 (other than the official Super NES wireless Switch Online controller, that as of today ONLY works on Switch...but apparently 8BitDo are going to be releasing a firmware update for this controller’s receiver to allow it to sync which would be sweet!) battery life seems bang on for what they claim as well. My ONLY complaint with this controller is there are no instructions (or at least I didn’t get any) that explain how to put the controller in “Update Mode” to update the firmware using a PC via USB. For those wondering you hold down L&R+Start until both Green and Blue LED lights flash.

Sleek and true to form
Received these as soon as could be expected during COVID-19 - no damage or broken seals, everything looks brand new! I should add how eerily similar these feel and play in the hand compared to the originals, which I've had since '91. Will update once I'm able to test them out to see if the reported issues with sensitive diagonal movement affect me or not. There is a review with photos that shows an easy fix for this problem if you experience it.****UPDATE - Sep 16, 2020****After quite a few hours with one of the controllers on Secret of Mana, I can thankfully say I haven't had to open them up and fiddle with the d-pad contact area. There's a tiny tendency towards making you be a little more accurate in your choice of direction, but this game doesn't punish the player for that. I may update again with Super Metroid or Street Fighter results. Very happy with this so far!
